i got in my truck and grove to the end of the street and hit the brakes and my tires started chirping. i drove a little more and i figured it out that my front brakes are the only ones working. does anyone know what would cause? the truck was driving perfect yesterday and now it is like this today so i have no idea.

under normal driving conditions only, or at least MOST of it is only, the front brakes are in use. does your e-brake work? how is your fluid level? is your abs light on?

MY fluid level is ok and i was having problems with my e-brake sticking, so they removed the piece that runs inside the drums, so i have no e-brakes. i understand that the front brakes do most of the stopping, but it has never been like this before, the brakes are way more sticky and it seems like there is a fine line from not stoping and locking up the brakes. its driving me crazy

If you take out the bar so the e-brake no longer functions you need to adjust up the shoes so they are closer to the drum. Basically that bar holds the shoes outward a little and if you take it out the springs pull the shoes inward all the way and collapse the wheel cylinder.

drum rusting maybe.....is it constant or just when you start out?

frozen wheel cylinders , it'll keep up the brake pedal , so you'll never notice it till you hit the brakes and the front wheels lock up , i found that out at state inspection when they told me i only had front brakes when they got off the brake pad they use. Took the drum off and tried to push the cylinder rods back and they wouldn't move.
