Does anyone know how to or know anyone that can reprogram these computers to accept a different PATS system and a T-5 tranny. I am doing a V8 Ranger swap with an explorer engine, and wondering how this will work.
thanks

A Ford dealer should be able to get the PATS to work again but they will need to have the vehicle in their shop to do it.

If you need to turn off the Explorer's automatic transmission controls and trouble codes, you should contact a tuner who does aftermarket PCM calibrations.

Could I use the computer as it is and just live with the service engine light or is it necessary to have it reprogramed because of the T-5?

If you go with the XCal2, the PATS can be disabled (Not MY #$1 choice, but it is an option) and the automatic trans can be deleted so there are no CEL's. PM me your 4 digit PCM code and I'll see what I can do for you and give you some options.

Check with the V8 forums, but the best option is to use the Explorer transponder/keys to keep the PATS alive.

I don't have a computer yet, but the number I probably would be getting is the XL2F. This computer is out of a 4x4 1998 5.0 auto explorer. There wasn't an Explorer V8 4x2 stick was there? If the XCal2 can disable the PATS in the computer, then won't the truck recognize this and arm the system, or does it completely disable it.

I do it all of the time for guys putting 5.0's in Rangers and Explorer's and I use a chip to do it. Yes, it can be done.

Thanks, Doug.
