View Full Version : how much of a drop is this????
crazy_slow93 Jan 25 2007, 01:41pm well, i bought my truck from a total genius... he installed a flip kit and removed a leaf in the rear springs, then he ran out of money to do the front. so after driving it around for a week or two looking like it had 5,000 lbs of stuff in the back he put blocks under the i-beams and held a torch to the springs until they hit the bump-stops.i'm going to use my tax return $$$ to buy the front end parts, so what do i need to achieve the same amount of drop?????????:confused http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o18/crazy_slow93/ranger.jpg

thanks in advance for any help
racincrazy40 Jan 25 2007, 02:02pm prob. Some drop i-beams and a 1" lowering spring off a splash.
Smorrison1 Jan 25 2007, 03:11pm yep Dream Beams FTW.
Greggy18 Jan 25 2007, 03:16pm the beams will get you 3 inches. and like racincrazy40 said probably some 1" drop coils off of a splash. or you could pick up some after market 2" lowering springs and get an extra inch out of the drop.
crazy_slow93 Jan 25 2007, 04:50pm where is a good place to get the i-beams???? and about how much are they?
on another note, i've heard alot of talk of the "dream beams" bending easily.
BlauSplash Jan 25 2007, 04:53pm DJM beams bending under normal driving conditions are good. Only bent beams I have seen have been involved in an accident.
as far as a drop the rear doesn't look that low in the rear end. Looks like it has a flip kit only. Which leaf did he remove?
crazy_slow93 Jan 25 2007, 05:03pm he removed the overload and bottom leafs. i forgot to mention i put an aftermarket add-a-leaf on b/c when you hit a bump the axle hit the frame and the rear suspension was too soft. so that picked it back up about 2 inches.when i got it the rear tucked as much as the front is in that first pic.
it is getting dark out, but here is a pic of that add-a-leaf i'll get some better pics tomorrow probably. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o18/crazy_slow93/rearspring.jpg
but these are my front springs. (getting replaced asap.)http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o18/crazy_slow93/frontpass-spring.jpg

Don't Do This...4-anyone out there wanting to lower ur truck...save up so you have enough money to do it right the first time!!!!
crazy_slow93 Jan 25 2007, 08:00pm any help would be greatly apreciated.thanks.
domidcsk8ter Jan 25 2007, 09:16pm woooooow the ride must be really horrible and the springs look horrible
racincrazy40 Jan 26 2007, 01:17pm Prob. rides like a dump truck and handles like one too.
Greggy18 Jan 26 2007, 02:50pm the whole rumor about dream beams bending was a bunch o sh*t that Aim made up to try and sell more of their boxed style chassis tech beams...they been making dreams beams for quit a while now an di have yet to hear of or see any that have bent...i have had mine for almost 4 years and have not had anythign but good luck with them....www.gofathercustoms.com will probably be the cheapest, but their customer service is usually pretty sh*tty....www.stylinconcepts would be another place, their prices are a bit higher but they have excellent customer service and are worth the extra few bucs in my opinion.....you are looking at right around 300 for DJM dream beams. and right around 400 for belltechs. i would buy any other brand except those 2. but that is just my opinion.
crazy_slow93 Jan 26 2007, 03:38pm Prob. rides like a dump truck and handles like one too.
rides really bad, but handles like a race car.:driving: NO body roll....at all. it literally rides on the bumpstops.
thanks for the info Greggy18.much appreciated.
pistolgripbmx Jan 26 2007, 08:00pm damn those springs look like ****...
summit has good deal on dream beams too, i think it was somewhere around 350 shipped.
slow-n-low02 Jan 26 2007, 10:21pm ive ran a set of dream beams on 4 diff trucks... the same set when thro all the trucks.. never had a issue..
i trust them an most people on here will say the same.
Damn prices have risen. When I bought my dream beams and axle flip kit they came together. I purchased them from Godfathercustoms. They only cost me $314 shipped to my door step.
crazy_slow93 Jan 27 2007, 02:47pm i priced the beams at godfather last night, $346.01 shipped.
stylinconcepts was 350 or so, plus shipping.
any sugestions on a good place to get drop springs, so i can keep my ride height it has now, but be done right?????
Dan48p Jan 27 2007, 02:53pm round tubing is stronger than square tubing. correct me if i am wrong, but the corners in the square tubing make it weaker than round tubing which has no corners.
slammedxonair Jan 28 2007, 06:40pm wow those springs are shot. like they said go with djm 3 inch drop ibeams and get some stock springs, or ranger splash 1 inch drop or belltech 2 inch drop springs. also a hint i sell djm parts i have a thread on here bout it. and your not gona find ibeams for $300 there a little more than that.
crazy_slow93 Jan 30 2007, 09:51pm godfathercustoms.com has DJM i-beams listed for $310 + shipping.
nitemare_ranger Jan 30 2007, 10:05pm godfathers is just the other side of atlanta why not drive there?
Ankle Biter Jan 31 2007, 12:26am i ve made the trip there before and i live 3hrs away
sweet ass place to go
its like a grown up toy store
Mightygreenrang Jan 31 2007, 10:41am Get the DJM beams if you want your truck to sit at the same hieght.
Pepper Jan 31 2007, 12:15pm i have the Beltech 3" dropped I beams and 1" springs from a splash. I have about the same stance in the front. I highly recommend going to a junk yard for the 1" coils from a splash. thats where i got mine. I think i paid like $20 bucks for the set. good luck
crazy_slow93 Jan 31 2007, 01:34pm :sad2: no junk yards around my home have a wrecked splash.
