View Full Version : is it ok for ure rear lower shock mounts to be on the 4 link bar? slow-n-low02 Jan 28 2007, 02:47pm i was looking at the bagged truck i bought alittle more intense the other day an noticed the shocks are mounted to the 4 link bar.. an then to the frame. is this normal. thanks BlauSplash Jan 28 2007, 04:30pm Yes it is fine t mount them on the 4 link bars. I mount them on the bars all the time usually b/c it is easier to get to the bars than the axle. slammedxonair Jan 28 2007, 06:23pm yea especially if your running a bag on bar setup then it lets you get your full lift. slow-n-low02 Jan 28 2007, 07:45pm thanks guys.. i was just lookin over the setup i have.. like i said ealier. an it has the two bars forward an two bars backwards. the tw going forward have the bags mounted to them.. the ones going reverse i asume work sorta like a panhard to keep the axle in place. thanks guys iLLblazer Jan 28 2007, 08:40pm umm no that would be a 50/50 or forverse 4 link which is probably the worst setup you can have. BlauSplash Jan 28 2007, 09:30pm Yea I used to do 50/50's and they never last. You should look into having them all changed to forward. slow-n-low02 Jan 28 2007, 09:44pm wat do u mean they dont last? an basically all i would have to do is redo the upper bars to face forward an bulid a crossmember for them correct? iLLblazer Jan 28 2007, 09:51pm yeah as long as there is nothing in the way. just mock up the axle at ride height, make sure its all centered side to side and squared up and that your pinion angle is good(in case it wasnt from the original install). When you have it where you want it, then tack some metal from the frame to the axle to hold it in place, cut off your upper bar tabs off the axle and redo them forwards. The problem with 50/50 links is the opposing links work against each other, essentially fighting for the axle. They also cant maintain a proper pinion angle. So they cause alot of wear and tear on components. slow-n-low02 Jan 28 2007, 10:06pm well i ave a 13 gallon fuel cell that was built into the stock location. hmm sounds like i have alot of stuff that ill have to redo. because i assume the cell with have to be moved.. the issue there is the truck is fully hardlined.. an the air tank under the bed.. where i would put the cell. ill just have to take alook at it. any more info would be greatly appreciated. the truck seems to ride really nice.. but u have to find the righht spot or there is alittle drive ling vibration. BlauSplash Jan 28 2007, 10:17pm You could build an upper wishbone that works around the fuel cell. slow-n-low02 Jan 28 2007, 10:54pm thanks ricky... i appreciate all ure knowledge,, ill look into it jd iLLblazer Jan 29 2007, 10:33am Wishbone or a parrallel 3 link with a panhard will be better then what you got for sure. Or you could move the cell. Got any pics of your setup? slow-n-low02 Jan 29 2007, 12:16pm na man it will be alittle bit b4 i get shots of it. i have to get the bed off an in order to do that i have to get some other **** taken care of.. plus its been 15 here so im not into doing anything on the truc kright now |
