to use your stock sending unit it has to have a total of 10.5" of clearence...most people use a 20x20x10 fuel cell and make an adapter to mount it up with to make up the difference in mounting depth..I make an adapter to mount your pump to your cell with that makes it really easy to do..plenty of guys on here are using them...pm me for details if you want...

How tall is the cell to the top of the pump.I want to hide it under the bed.

i would say 12"-13" to be safe since the fuel lines come out of the top of the sender

you cant use an external fuel pump on the 98+ ranger. they have a returnless gas system..unless you want to go thru the added expense of converting the fuel system to the pre 98 system this is really your only choice...

He's talking to you, but I don't know why, all you did was explain why his theory wouldn't work.

No kurtis,I was talking about you.maybe if you were bagged you would understand how hard it is to mount a fuel cell with a stock pump and make it look good. you did not give any info about the question but,you seem to make smart comments about it.(mad scientist truck) SEEMS LIKE YOUR JUST A HATER

I was talking to KURTIS M.

regardless of who you were talking to, I dont see anyone being a jerk towards you in any of the comments...and the fact he isn't bagged has no direct relation to his knowledge, or lack of knowledge, on the subject...

dude..chill, he was just posting an awsome example of how to do a stock unit in a cell...as a newb you dont know anyone on here and should refrain from calling people haters..i predict a short stay on RPS for you if your attitude doesnt change...and thats not a threat just a prediction..the mods will take care of it i am sure..

I misunderstood who that was directed to because it seemed like it came out of right field. Noone is trying to start a fight; like many members here, I am learning before I jump into bags, and I have aquired a great deal of knowledge so far on it. The guy asked for pictures and help, i posted a picture of madscientist's truck because he did a great job on it and it looks beautiful. Members here love when the work they do aids in someone elses knowledge of the work they are trying to accomplish. And how can I be a hater, I even said in my post who's truck it was, obviously its not mine because my avatar truck isnt red. Your right, I'm not bagged, I'm glad you can read my sig, and its funny that you would call my posts useless when your the one posting hate messeges over an internet forum.

Wow, can't believe i missed this thread!! It even has a pic of my a$$....

I was seriously fighting to do away with that unsightly stock sending unit and gaggle of tubes/wiring protruding from the top of it, but thanks to fords stupid returnless fuel system, my hands are tied. But of all the ways to use a cell, bdpaco's adapter is the least "tacky" of all the ways ive seen it done.
