Howdy everyone.

A friend of mine has a 94 ranger, 2.3L w/ Standard trans. If he lets the rpm's drop below 2k in any gear, the truck will kinda like buck forward, or jump about once every 1-2 seconds. The problem gets worse as the revs get lower. I've never had a vehicle do this before...I'm thinking maybe something to do with the clutch or pressure plate?? The truck is very hard to get into gear.

Thanks.

Check Your MAF sensor. if it senses too low of airflow under those rpms it can have a hard time making up it mind on what to do with the air/fuel ratio. Check to see if the sensor is dirty. My old 93 tempo did that and it had a TSB on a high reistance in the pigtail for the MAF. Replaced the pigtail with the one ford recomended and problem solved. Also check to make sure the MAF is securly mounted and not jumping around. They don't like that too much!. Other things you can check

1. leaking spark plug wires
2. a possible TPS.
3. Vacuum leaks.

I hope some of this is useful to you and good luck.
