I have a prob! My check engine light is on, scan it it says coil a and coil b have short circuit! truck still runs! 195k on the odometer so i figure the coils could be weak, replace them with accel coils. Rescan to shut light off, Same prob!!! Engine runs smooth no misses but has no power, I gota pull third on lil hills! MPG is also down to 15-18 instead of 22-24. Any help or hints before I waste more money would be great! Thanx in advance

so what was the problem? bad coils? when was the last tune up you did? plugs, wires, destributor, fuel filter, air filter, check for old / cracked hoses

It still has no power and my mpg sucks, the coils are new accel super coils, and they ran the same as the stockers. wires are good vac hoses look good. Gotta pull the plugs yet

You can replace all the seconday ignition you want and it wont fix anything. You have a code for coil short circuts. that is in your primary side. check your wires from the module to the coils. remember you have both coil shorts so it has to be common to both coils. my 91 still has a Spout connector to set ignition timing on distrubutor ignition engines. if yours has fallen out then your engine is not advancing spark thus no power but still running smooth. Am i making sense?

You have to give us the code, otherwise everyone is guessing. This is a good spot for looking up the code when you get it: http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/
