It's official. I've ordered up a 2007 Ranger XL Reg Cab 2WD Shortbox. Got the 2.3 Duratec and an automatic tranny. Black with tan interior. Options include tinted, sliding rear window, and a CD player with Sirius. That's it. No A/C, no tilt, no cruise. The only downside is A/C isn't available with the 2.3 in Canada. Oh well, that's why I got the rear slider.

This is my third Ford truck. I bought a F-150 new in 1998 then I upgraded to a 2001 F-150 SuperCrew in 2004. Now it's time to try out a Ranger.

By ordering now, I'm going to be eligible for 0% financing for 60 months and $1,000 in free accessories. Sweet!

Since it's a black truck with no chrome, I'm planning on getting that smoked LED third level brake light, and maybe getting black headlights and turn signals. I saw that LED taillight mod and if I get brave enough to chop up a brand new taillight, I might try that.

Since it's 2WD, I'm going to get a traction lock rearend installed before snow hits (I've got plenty of time). Otherwise I'm just gonna drive it and when I get the $$ I'll put 18's on there and do a 2/3 drop kit. I really like Marauder wheels on the Ranger, this is so hot (see pic at end of post)

Well that's it for now. Expect me to post a LOT more in the coming months.

Sweet! Sounds like, apart from the auto, you got the Ranger equivalent of the B2300 I got a month ago. Race ya!

I got the 0% too (but wish I had $1000 of free accessories)! Sounds like the Auburn Pro LS is the way to go for the 7.5 rear end (limited options on them) and I'm thinking about getting one. The stock one is supposed to not be so great (lots of threads on that).

Nice mags! I kindof like the simple mags mine came with but the Continental tires pretty much suck for wet traction and snow (not so great for rainy Vancouver). If you can deal on an tire upgrade before you drive it off the lot, I would if I were you.

Beware--black shows every spec of dirt and every scratch--as I'm finding out the hard way! But sure is pretty for 10 minutes after its washed!

My '01 F-150 was black. Wow, you'd think I'd learn my lesson. Sadly I didn't. Yeah, I'm gonna have to wash it every other day. And use the California Duster pretty much every day.

I guess your new truck will look a lot like mine! (Except for the chrome grill, which you can easily remedy at eBay... )

I just got word that they might not accept any more 07 orders... I'll know by Mon or Tues next week if it will be accepted. They said something about there being a lot of Rangers in western canada, etc. Worst case is I have to wait a bit and order an 08.

Well the dealer still hasn't got the order confirmation (they called it a DORA sheet). So I'm guessing the order didn't get accepted by Ford.... I might have to order a Mazda or wait for the 08 order date rolls around....???

Since they're built at the same factory, if they didn't accept the order for a Ford, they won't accept an order for a Mazzda...

Looks like you'll be one of the lucky guys who get a 2008 Ranger!

One of the last St. Paul-built trucks! :bawl:

Still plenty of time to order an '07, I ordered my '04 first week of June and it was at the dealer in just under 2 weeks! They told me 2-3 weeks is normal. They don't shut down the line till July for the model year change-over. Not sure if the plant closings are gonna mess-up the orders now though.

That was then, this is now... somewhere it was mentioned that with the St. Paul plant closing soon, the '07-'08 changeover would be early this year.

The reason they're not accepting orders is because there's so many 07 Rangers in Western canada. It's a political decision, it has nothing to do with the factory switching over to 08's yet. So Mazda probably will be accepting orders even though Ford isn't. I'll say it again, Ford of Canada SUCKS!!

It's almost time the 08's to come out.

UPDATE: I called the Mazda dealer to see what they can do. It turns out they can't order any more 07's either. They said June 1 is the cutover date for the new 08's. That means I've either got to pick one off a lot somewhere or wait and buy an 08. But no 0% or free accessories :-(

I'll start a new thread but it looks like I'll be buying a Mazda B2300. Hang on...

it's a good looking truck - used I assume? (due to the bugshield & decal on the back)

New 07. The dealer added the FX-R decal, bug deflector, pinstripe, and box liner to help it sell quick. They do stuff like that to all their trucks.

Yeah, good looking truck. I'd be really happy with it too (especially after removing that sticker--even on my canopy I removed the sticker from the back window). But if I lived on the prairies like you I'd probably keep that bug deflector. And even to protect the hood from flying rocks (a real problem on the back roads here in BC).

Blue is one hellova lot better color than black. The A/C will add resale value if you trade it in on something else in the future.

A/C - Good
Automatic Tranny - P.U. (Real men need three pedals)
Bug deflector - OK
Box Liner - Good
FX-R - :supergay:
Pinstripe - ?

Just my take...

Nice truck, though!

I got the truck yesterday. Long story short I didn't get the boxliner or bug deflector. I got a hitch, rubber floor mats, and a bedmat. I've got a really strange electrical problem, I'll post that in a new thread.

Might I say warranty? If you already have an electrical problem on your new truck I would say take it back and let them fix it, but now that I am thinking about it, does have to do with something of the aftermarket? Because dealers do not like the aftermarket.

And also I am glad to hear you Finally got your truck, I do believe you are going to love it.

I've had it one day, I didn't do a thing to it. I have the LED third level brake light but I'm not going to put it on until the electrical problem is fixed. I started a new thread in Electrical on that.

Congrats--Finally! Sorry to hear about the electrical problem, but they have to fix it--and probably should so you don't get any warranty hassles later. Hopefully you don't have any other issues and can just enjoy your new truck.
