okay, background story, my dads old 94 f150 5.0..172XXX miles, not been running right..wont go into overdrive sometimes..we crank it today b/c there was a big puddle under it, unknown substance, was green like antifreeze, but oily with no smell..i crank it to put it back, notice the dreadful CEL, and the airbag light is flashing 3-2...whats wrong with this ol beater?

You'll need the trouble code to diagnose the CEL. It is possible to pull the code without a special reader on a 94:

The 3-2 airbag code means that the resistance is too high in the DS airbag circuit. That could mean a broken clockspring or a poor connection somewhere else in the circuit.

thanks bob, but i have no idea of how to do that link u sentYou would need to locate that diagnostic test connector and follow the instructions using an analog meter or equivalent. Or you can sometimes find the an old style OBD code puller on clearance for as little as $20.

Either way, one problem that you will encounter is that the test connector location was not standardized before OBDII came in (95+ or 96+, depending on vehicle line). I'd look for the 94 F-series OBD connector under the hood somewhere, maybe near one of the hood hinges or the electrical distribution box. :nixweiss:
