Can anyone advise how hard it is to replace the main harness in the engine bay. I have alot of bare wires and wish to make it right, certainly avoid fires. It apprears to be the portion of wire branching off to the carb. Any help is appreciated.

More thank likely you will have to rebuild the harness. You aren't going to find a new replacement anywhere, and unless you get lucky what you have is better than what you can find from a junkyard. Please keep in mind that thin is a 22 year old truck, and there are certain mods that can eliminate a great deal of the wire harness. One of the mods is to eleminate the original computer controlled carb/ignition set up in favor of a standard carb and a duraspark II system. The previously mentioned mod eleminates much of the stock wiring harness which many choose to just cut off in the engine bay. I know on my 84 Ranger the engine harness was cut off right at the firewall and the wires were left in the firewall to plug the hole.

I got one question and one suggestion.

Question: Do you have any pics of the wires/engine bay, or a list of any ignition/intake mods?

Suggestion: While the admin here might not like it try posting this question in the 2.8L forums over at The Ranger Station (Therangerstation.com). In my personal experience there is a lot more knowledge about the little 2.8L there. This is a great forum and I have learned a good deal from it and have enjoyed reading but IMHO TRS is the place to go for these motors.

Hope I've helped and that you take advantage of the other resource I've referenced you to.
