Boom BlueMan Jul 27 2007, 07:41am Sure it's possible, but are generally more expensive and harder to fit in that a centrifugal blower or turbo. A roots-style blower sticking through the hood is always impressive looking through! http://www.dyersblowers.com/1694.html 93stx4.0ranger Jul 27 2007, 08:41am i want a roots cuz the sound and the look of them fastranger347 Jul 27 2007, 12:46pm try a company named kuhl superchargers they have what you need they use a truck efi lower intake and weld a "blower plate" on the top allowing you to either use two carbs and plug the injector bosses or use two throttle bodies and use fuel injectors in the factory location 93stx4.0ranger Jul 28 2007, 04:11am hmm sounds good, this maybe stupid but he blower plate and lower intake are aluminum right? fastranger347 Jul 28 2007, 05:29am yes 93stx4.0ranger Jul 28 2007, 08:32am iight so id have to weld them togeather, but it would jsut be liek that narrow one that has the huge top peace? tmsoko Jul 28 2007, 09:19am Roots blowers look nice, but are by no means the best- especially for a street / trip truck. The yjust plain create too much heat. Without an intercooler, forget any decent amount of timing. If you want to have blower on top, I HIGHLY recommend a twin screw - Kenne Bell, Whipple, or Autorotor/Lysholm. KB abd Whipple originally shipped their kits with Autorotor, Whipple then changed to Autorotor, then a few years ago Autorotor bought out Lysholm. Now, in the past year, KB has been marketing their own compressors made by a shop over in Sweeden. Sorry for the history lesson - regardless, twin screw compressors are more efficient, meaning cooler discharge air and less power to drive it. Plus, you can drive it with a much narrower serpentine belt, thus getting better fit for the Ranger. 93stx4.0ranger Jul 28 2007, 11:02am well i wanted the fat belt cuz they look better, i love the sound the the roots, and the wya the look, so im not goign with a blower cuz i dont want one of them lil things and its goign to be carbed, efi is to fancy for me EDGEUCATOR Jul 28 2007, 11:16am TMSOKO; I would love to put that KB in my truck but I don't know of any good shops to machine the drive down. I had looked at the EE kit but I want more than 6lbs out of it. JOE50 Jul 28 2007, 09:26pm Kudos tsmsoko.I guess we"ve been down a similar road...Excellent info. This unit was definataly under-rated,but still hard to find.:friday: The KB twin screw whipple(rebuildable) is a great power adder with the proper cam, to any SBF.Educator, theres no need to machine your drive...If thats what I'm thinking about.KB offers different size pulleys for any application of boost. tmsoko Jul 29 2007, 10:43am When modifying a Mustang (94-95) KB kit, the drive extionsion needs to be machined back ~7mm to align the pulley with the explorer belt plane. As for machine services, just look up machine shop serivces in the yellow pages or tool shops. If you have a local hotrod shop, they would either have a machine shop of know of one locally that could do the job. Pretty basic machine work. Let me know if you get serious, I can help you with the dimensions. EDGEUCATOR Jul 29 2007, 09:27pm Do you know if the blowzilla kit with the Flowzilla intake will work? I know that clearance is tight and the Flowzilla is larger. tmsoko Jul 30 2007, 01:08pm Flowzilla will not work, neither will the GT40 lower based manifold set. The flowzilla interferes with the cowl sheet metal and the GT-40 set pushes the compressor over to the driver side and interferes with the throttle cable. quadzjr Jul 30 2007, 03:05pm doesn't holley offer rebadged weiand roots type blower for a 302? looks small though. here it is on summit racinghttp://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=700+4294925239+4294908331+42948401 26+4294889096+4294839032+400053+115+311201&autoview=sku click it. BlueMan Jul 30 2007, 04:10pm There is an edit button you know! I'm pretty sure that's a 4-71 blower, not a 6-71. EDGEUCATOR Jul 30 2007, 04:13pm ahh ok. Makes sense. What kind of boost can yours make. MichiganSpecial Jul 30 2007, 05:12pm BDS has a 351W blower kit. I think they have a 302 blower. edit: I don't see ANY SBF stuff on their web site anymore! quadzjr Jul 31 2007, 09:23am I have seen in a magazine a guy machinging a MSD distributor with two 45* gears so it would bend his dist 90* and he was able to run a standard 6-71 blower.. or maybe it was an 8-71 either way it the point remains the same. Apaprently any reputable machine shop should be able to do the work. mhart Aug 18 2007, 04:57pm i was looking at the weiand for a 302 also, on the website they show some dynos of around 450ish hp. BlueMan Aug 19 2007, 11:34am If you want power on demand and don't want to take up space, consider a couple stages of nitrous instead. Unlike a blower, you won't be stressing the engine & drivetrain unless you've got the gas turned on. EDGEUCATOR Aug 19 2007, 12:17pm I have run nitrous on all of my vehicles..including this one. I am tired of the gas...and the pain of having to go to the speed shop every other week or sooner to refill the bottle. I am running a very healthy shot on my diesel dually. My ranger is quickly becoming a show vehicle which still needs go. And nothing intimidates more than a blower on top or a pair of turbos whistling at you. BlueMan Aug 20 2007, 05:48am I guess it's just personal preference. I prefer to see GO not show, and your number you post at the track is all that impresses me anymore. I've seen plenty of impressive looking show cars that can't move to save their life on the track. EDGEUCATOR Aug 20 2007, 10:46am The engine that this v8 is replacing was a fully built SOHC 4.0 I had plenty of go but ran out of performance parts to put on it. Believe me, I am about my go. I am just tired of the spray. BlueMan Aug 20 2007, 12:30pm If you want efficient power adder, go the turbo route. If you size it and your pipes right, you will have very little turbo lag. It's also easier to adjust than a blower instead of needing to change pulley size, and there's no belt to slip or break. fastranger347 Aug 20 2007, 01:56pm i'll help ya thru it if you want. 400sxman Dec 11 2007, 10:03am my friend has an old 6-71 off of a diesel that he'd be willing to sell cheap, like $400 ish, its taken apart but all the parts are there. pm me if interested. ~Nat splash trigger Mar 21 2008, 08:02pm Hi i fit Kenne Bell Flo/Blozilla on gt40 intake.Runs very gooood .8Psi boost on 347ci ford block 526 RWt and 496 RWHP so far.Now i am running on 30 lb injectors and i will change to 42 lb.Dyno tune in next week? tmsoko Mar 23 2008, 08:58pm Is this on your ranger?
