my 4x4 does not work all the time when you hit the selector switch when it is cold goes in to 4 wheel drive then seem like when it get hot it wont go in 4x4 anymore the lights on the dash just blink at you does anyone know what it mite be ( i think it is the selector motor going out but can any one confrim it please) thank you for your time

Yes, Pull it and grease the gears, not that bad a job.

I had that problem in my 99 ranger and i had to put a new 4X4 computer put in it. i went to use the 4x4 and it was not there then the 4x4 high and low lighs started flashing it kinda pissed me off.

it could also mean power isn't getting to the transfercase.

it is still doing only when it get warm under the truck when i cool truck down
aka trun off for some time it start working again but the wooking time is get shorter now

anyone think it is the tansfor case motor
