I am still planning on it, however the s10 guys seem to have quit. So I am looking to hear from them before going any further,

lol, could be. Funny too, they were pushing so hard for this too!

We will see what happens, then we will push them a bit.

I have the truck ready for the motor. I've even gone through the motor and rebuilt it. But stuck there due to lack of donations. Close to calling it off.

I am still waiting on words from the s10 guys to be sure the whole deal will happen before I take anything else. But they haven't answered me yet.

Any word?

By the way, dlibson, I looked at your site and wow. That is some project and nice going with the convertible. I had a '66 pickup that I wanted to do that to. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Nice work.

I have not gotten a response. I am going to sign up on their site and ask tonight.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it!

That match up was a joke. They never had a chance, the truck, to put it nicely, was a hack job, and the kid driving it, coudlnt drive his way out of a wet paper bag.

:quagmire: YEAH the truck they said tranny was put in last minute the nite/morning of show and theydidnt seem like they could drive at all...i didnt catch how much hp or what engine in it but it got spanked hard:mind-blow

The S10 guys are trying, but to no avail really as well. My thought here is that if we are gonna do it, I want to see stuff come in now. I deceided not to go with the 351. It's to far gone. Oh well. We just aren't gonna get $1,200 to make it right. We are better off with a 302 and some turbo for a lot less money to get the job done once. Anyone got a FI 302 and wiring?

dalpilot
Feb 17 2008, 08:36am
I can get us a nearly new 4.6L mustang GT engine that needs a new intake manifold, for free, with the tranny and rearend connected to it. The Mustang is connected to it as well, but that can be fixed.

dlibson
Feb 17 2008, 09:26am
I'd do it, but some funds needed for that, I'd take it as the whole car so I can use the wiring I need.

Unfortunately there are a lot of factors working against this from happening anytime soon. First it took so long to decide on a powertrain (which sounds like it's still up in the air), I think the S10 guys gave up as they didn't see anything happening over here. Second, all the engines, heads, trannys, trucks, etc that are willing to be donated are not anywhere near where they need to be (MN in this case) for the build, so unless someone is willing to also donate the hefty shipping bills or cash to cover them, we'll never get the parts we need. Third, I think a "team" approach may help better than saddling it all on Dibson's shoulders. Unfortunately again, this needs the space (a decent shop) to properly build a truck as well as the 3 T's (time, talent, & tools) to do so. Having them all in place at the same time is not an easy thing to pull off.

I'm not saying it can't happen, but it's a constant up-hill battle when you're working on a practically non-existent budget.

The S10 guys are trying, and I agree this is going to be (has been) tough. But as long as people are willing so am I. I have the time and the shop, just not the parts. The budget is the problem.

dlibson, I work at an auto salvage yard that has primarily late model fords. If we can pick a motor/tranny, i can try and get parts like wiring, etc.

if it was driveable id fly myself down there to get it and drive it up to him... but i just reread it and saw it needs an intake manifold.

If I was at home (Houston, Texas) I could grab one (stock intake) out of storage, drive up there install it and then it would be off to you to fly and drive!

Since I just came back the D.C. for work and will not be home for a month my 87 GT mass air converted harness does no good what so ever. It's in a box and could have been shipped if I weren't here or tied up all weekend to have noticed and sent before I came back here.

I'm still hoping to do this if we can get going. All we need is a good useable motor, or more funds. I'd love to show progress, but there is none yet. All I've done is pull stuff apart. It up to you guys at this point...

I have a complete wiring harness everything to wire it up. But it is for a 351 let me know if you need something. I think that the wiring harness will work for the 302 but not sure.

Well if it is and you need a motor, I have dibs on a crownvic 4.6 SOHC F3 with the modular bell housing. The tranny is toast but the motor is fine. That is if you dont have a motor. Its out of a 93'

If I remember right, dlibson's has a motor (or at least the truck that contains the motor).

I just don't think anything was ever really decided past that. Maybe he can chime in with what's he's got.

I have all sorts of options. I really don't have a solid motor. the one I got is a complete disaster, and the one I have personally I would use, but the support from here hasn't been around yet. So far the cost of the truck was covered, but barely. I have a few parts for the job, but they are all for the supposed engine. Really we need to raise about $2,000 for a motor and the work needed to make it go. Then the rest of the truck has to be dealt with still too. ie, rear end, tires, any body work we might want to do. It's all up to the members here.

But if we don't get it done soon, it's gonna be scraped.

I don't want to sound like a pessimist, but since it's been floundering already for far too long (almost two years), just pull the plug already. Return the stuff that's been sent in if the people that donated want it back and call it done.

Shame i was really excited to see this go down. If any parts from a ranger are needed i have a 91 with a good body/frame/interior. no PS or any power options for that much or AC. If anything is needed please let me know i would love to help but that is all i have that i can give ATM

anyone know of the status on this going down? Even if it isn't able to get on "Pinks", wouldn't everyone be happy with a large gathering somewhere with Rangers and S10s, V8s or stockers, all wanting to continue the rivalry? If we can work to that end alone, that'd be great.
As for a final act in the great show, the two trucks that were built by S10 cats, and dlibson could be raced and then auctioned off with the proceeds donated to charity, eh? Or raffled off to their respective members or something, but let's at least plan this so that it is doable.
