Is this the correct procedure for retrieving trouble codes from a Ranger's EEC?

I would think that this info would be part of a Ranger FAQ or somethin' and available on the forum. The questions seem to come up reqularly. Or maybe it's here and I've missed it?

Not for a 97, you would need to have a ODB-II scanner to pull the codes. That is correct for the older Rangers, except when you get real old, then CEL won't pull the code.

Thanks Ken. Do you know what year the ODB-I / II change was made? 1995 maybe?

The change was made in 95, but some late model 94's have the EEC-V system and OBDII.
