Hey guys- My ABS light has been on for a little while on my '95, and I just got to check it out today. Turns out that the wire to the ABS sensor for the right front wheel broke loose from its mounted location and the wire was rubbing against the inside of the rim! It's been doing this long enough, that it has worn all the way through the insulation, and you can see the bare wire. My question to you is, do I need to go to Ford and get a new sensor/ wire assembly to fix this? Or is it ok to splice/ or solder in a new peice of wire? Thanx for any help.
If you can solder it back on or splice it, that would work OK. It just provides a sensor pulse reading. If you splice it, use about the same gauge wire and solder the connections.

A friend told me that the wire is "shielded" - so outside signals dont interfere with it.... therefore I would have to replace the sensor and wire... does this make sense?? Is it really shielded? And would it mess up with a new wire?
It's possible that it is, but you should be able to tell by looking at it. It will either have a metallic foil inside the outer housing, or a fine woven wire shielding like you have on coax cable. I've never cut one to find out.
