dangeranger Feb 03 2002, 03:17pm Has anyone ever seen what these bulbs look like in action, I thought I did but I wasn't sure what the guy did to his lights. Do they look good?

TX Ranger Feb 03 2002, 07:08pm I haven't seen them, but you would need (unless the 2000's are different) a 3157 bulb for the brake lights. The link points to an 1157, which won't work. Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but my bulbs are 3157.
hayn_surferboy Feb 03 2002, 07:48pm yeah you need 3157's
97 4x4 Feb 03 2002, 11:17pm I used to have two of them in my motorcycle. They looked cool but they had a problem, When you hit the brakelights they flash but not at the same time. So they will alternate back and forth and look like turn signals back and forth. The design works pretty good if you use only one ie; motorcycle tail/brake lights. But not for both sides of a car. Hope this helps,

hayn_surferboy Feb 03 2002, 11:26pm I have L.E.D. bulbs in my tail lights, for of them to be exact, and they all come on and off at the same time, and i have no complaints whatsoever about them they're brighter than reg bulbs, the only thing is that when you use them the load is way less so when you user your blinkers/turn signal whatever you call it, it flashes faster than normal, but i don't mind actually i like it flashing faster
97 4x4 Feb 04 2002, 12:00am Yeah, regular LED bulbs work fine in cars. The ones that he linked to are the kind that look like they rotate while on tail and flash when the brakes are applied. Those are the type that flash at different rates when the brake lights are on. They will not flash at the same time.

yeah but those wont work, you need 3157 bulbs not the 1157's that the link goes too, but yeah those blink and won't work right
Splash Feb 04 2002, 09:56am how legal can that be? In Ontario our cop cars have flashing red lights...
dangeranger Feb 04 2002, 05:20pm I really don't care if their illegal or not, the cops around where I live (Kennesaw, GA) are pretty slack with things like this. My main concern was if they would look good or not on my ranger, it's got the offroad look going and I was told they only look good for rangers that have the sport look. (lowered, euro-lights, neons, etc.). But good point about the bulb size I never checked what mine were. most likely not 1157's.
XLT217 Feb 04 2002, 10:17pm Pretty slack? I wouldn't be too sure about that. I also live in Kennesaw and have had many problems with cops, especially on Barrett Parkway. I was pulled over by Cobb Co. and ticked for taillight covers, and this was two weeks after getting pulled over by Marietta for my stereo being to loud, and the cop told me my light covers were okay, so I was given two stories by two different jurisdictions. Plus, I could go on and on about friends getting tickets for everything you could think of on Barrett. And cops will sit in front of the mall and walk up to cars and give tickets for colored bulbs, clear tails, flashing LED's, ect.
Just be careful.
About the 3157 LED Bulbs, I had them in my 2000 XLT and after like 4 months of having them, only a few of the LED's on each bulb actually worked and it was impossible to see my taillights if you were driving behind me. They were the Eurolite brand, so don't buy those because they are crap.
dangeranger Feb 05 2002, 10:16am I'm suprised you had so much trouble, I've been driving for two years with headlight covers, loud exhaust, and loud stereo and no one gave me any trouble. And I drive like a madman, I guess it's just luck. Thanks everyone for the input on the bulbs. I doubt i'll be buying them.
complexdesigns Feb 05 2002, 10:39am There only good if you have clear taillights. Kind of a waste to put them in euros or stock taillights imo. Their not all that bright behind a red lense so save your $
MiniRide Feb 07 2002, 05:41am i got a pair im lookin to sell 40 bucks for the pair.... when i was 16.. i was comin home from my gfs house w/them in and a cop was behind me he didnt do a thing.. then another time i got pulled over just to see if i was of age to drve and he said cool bulbs to me!
