Just gettin' started. I have an ''88 Bronco II 2.9 L 5-Speed. Soon after buying the vehicle and 2 days into my first 20 " snow in North Carolina the 4X4 failed to engage. Have checked fluid level in the txfer case and all electrical connections. Vehicle has electric shift. Any suggestions on where to look next?

Could be a short in the wiring somewhere or a bad fuse/relay or maybe a bad sensor.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am hoping for something simple perhaps electrical. Will start with that.

Easiest way to find your problem is to trace all the wires from the switch to where ever they go and put a test light on each wire and check for voltage.

Did you get this problem solved. I have the same thing that began after I steam cleaned the engine and tranny.

No fix as yet. Still looking for something electrical first. Problem began with difficulty getting into 4Lo then progressed until neither setting would engage.
