View Full Version : RPS Updates
stanger Oct 19 2008, 09:59am There has to be some definite changes for RPS to survive. We are definitely hitting some hard times here.
First off, traffic is down. And I think thats alot of because we have just become a forum and not much else. So, I have something in the works for that.
Hint: Start gathering your before and after modification pics. If you did a suspension drop, get your before and after pictures. I have a new section for that.
We will start doing more feature trucks where everybody gets to show of their truck and what they have done.
We also will have a layout change. Some probabably won't like it but it has to be done.
When the new sections get started, in order for RPS to grow and keep living, there MUST be member participation. If you look at the other sites that thrive and do well, its from the members.
Tell me your thoughts on this.
Fordranger1998 Oct 19 2008, 10:01am i think it sounds like a good idea we can see how everyones trucks have changed and i think everyone will participate because this site helps all of us
grumpy Oct 19 2008, 10:31am I like it:thumbsup:
NVRDONE Oct 19 2008, 10:44am Great Ideas. Cant wait to see the new layout. And Im all for helping out. Just let us know what you guys need.
stanger Oct 19 2008, 10:48am the layout changes won't be much, there will be a sidebar now though on the left
Rocknthehawk Oct 19 2008, 11:17am I think the lack of traffic is from the lack of a site recently.
There's the diehards that come here, fight like hell to get in, and enjoy it.
for the others, if you don't get in, you leave it alone and wait.
I remember when RPS was red...just like when it changed to the blue, it was new and we all accepted it and got used to it.

Exactly. With the down times that have been happening, there's a lot of faces on other Ranger forums. I've noticed a lot more activity form some of the regulars here on other forums more so then over here (myself included).
Can't wait for the revisions.
Cant wait for the revisions. RPS rocks and is the only ranger forum ill use.
98liftedranger Oct 19 2008, 12:05pm I like the new layout. I have been here everyday multiple times even with the way the forum has been the last few days. Thanks for all your hard work!
Freelander Oct 19 2008, 12:07pm Ok, so I was reading this thread about the revisions, then I clicked the forum home link and the changes had then been made! I had two tabs open at the time, one was the old RPS and one was the new RPS. It was kinda sad actually...I took a few screenshots of the old RPS so I wouldn't forget it. But the new layout is good, it's like this on several other forums I go to and I've always been fond of it. Especially the multiple quoting abilities now!
EDIT: We've all been owned on the whole sig pic thing.
Double Edit: Can anyone see my avatar? Or my Chop King and TOTM badge? I can't see any of them. But I can see everyone else's.
stanger Oct 19 2008, 12:13pm all the images are having to be uploaded again, I'm doing that now
NVRDONE Oct 19 2008, 12:16pm Okay. Aparently Im not up on everything. Whats the Bookmarks thing at the bottom. The only one I know is google?

Digg, Delicious, and StumbleUpon are all "programs" where you can rate and select your favorite webpages you come across. Once a webpage gets recommended so many times, others are able to see it and rank it as well. They're all pretty much the same but with minor differences. Digg is a website with popular links on the front, StumbleUpon (what I use) is a browser attachment...and I've used Delicious before, but I don't really know much about it.
NVRDONE Oct 19 2008, 12:27pm OOOhhhhh...
Cool, lol. Gotta check them out. Thanks man.
Rocknthehawk Oct 19 2008, 05:16pm my thoughts...i hate it. it's harder to read and navigate.
it's like new facebook vs. old facebook.
meh. maybe i'll get used to it, but i don't think i'll enjoy it. the other forum i visit that is set up this way has an option to view it in the normal (old) style
Ranger4x4.0 Oct 19 2008, 05:20pm traffic might be down because certain mod's can be power trippin. just my opinion, and half the reason I don't visit here as much anymore. BTW I am a mod on ORR fwiw.
I think some new changes and updates are just what we need to keep the mojo flowing!! I don't mind the new column, I just think it might work better on the right side of the page as I have a tendency to keep my windows a little smaller than normal and find myself needing to open my window to read the forum pages... But like others, I'll get use to it!!
Keep up the tremendous work!!!
NVRDONE Oct 19 2008, 05:26pm I don't mind the new column, I just think it might work better on the right side of the page...
I second that motion.
Rocknthehawk Oct 19 2008, 05:36pm I second that motion.
What was wrong with adds at the top?
or bottom?
They're "smart" adds, how often do they honestly get clicked?
The smaller forum makes it harder for me to read.
not hating on it, just asking questions

Nothing at all, but if they want it on the side I would say the right would be better for us this way we dont have to scroll over to view pics.
If you guys need some help, I amined' my own site a few years back and still play the game here and there with Vbulletin.
Wheat Oct 19 2008, 06:28pm Changes like this will always take time to adjust to. I personally don't mind them but I do Have a suggestion. Most forums give paying members the option to shut adds off all together since they help pay the bill for the Forum to run already.

that is going to happen
dross93ranger Oct 19 2008, 06:44pm I like it...the website was in need of some renovation.

04blkedge Oct 19 2008, 06:47pm that is going to happen
Awesome, keep up the good work.
Timo99 Oct 19 2008, 07:28pm I like most of the changes already, such as the new profile layout and how we can create albums on our own profiles
yetti96 Oct 19 2008, 07:42pm I like to see the forum changing and evolving, but unfortunately I will not be around too much long, or nearly as often as I just bought an F-150 and will e posting pic when I take them in the daylight. But keep up the good work. I just wish the F-150 forums were half as good as RPS...this is gonna suck, lol.
rangersplash2.3 Oct 19 2008, 07:48pm i like it. good work.
freddie Oct 19 2008, 08:14pm It looks good but I like it!!!! :)
04blkedge Oct 20 2008, 07:17am Did anyone else notice this at the top of the forum?

Timo99 Oct 20 2008, 07:22am Yeah, i noticed it earlier
