I have an 01 ranger xlt 4wd with no 4wd. i did my research and found out that most times its the conrol module located under the passenger side kick panel. So i got it in today and installed it and still no 4wd. I have a 6 month old shift motor also. and ideas?

Did you check fuses, or do any basic diagnostics?

all the fuses were fine. i'm thinkin maybe its the switch, since thats the only thing thats not new now. if not i have no clue

Did you check to see if you are getting power at the motor? At the switch?

i have no power at the switch or the motor. but if the switch is not getting power idk if the motor would or not

also i checked the pcm diode and 4x4 motor fuse under the hood and they're both good. but still no power to the switch.

Well if your not getting power to the switch, then you've got a problem there. You need to check the relay for the system, and see if there is power there. Then make sure the relay is good.

checked the relays and they were good. found out a fuse was missing so i plugged that in and its game on. only problem now is it sticks in 4lo sometimes

If it's sticking in 4lo, check your fluid, and change it if it's been a while. It may need some use...
