Hey, i know there is a few of these threads in here but i just cant seem to get my 4x4 hi or low to engage.

It's about to start snowing again where im living and i really need to fix this problem so....

I have a 99 Ranger, 4.0, XLT.
I put the truck into neutral, foot on break, switch the switch into 4x4 hi and i can hear a click of the switch, the light comes on. I dont hear that usual clunk as if it the 4x4 is engaging. Ive tested it in snow by trying to spin the wheels but only the rears will spin.

Would it work if i some how took the plastic covers off the front hubs and manually turned them somehow?

or is my problem somewhere else.

avm hubs are your answer to problem PVH hubs..

or can also be your shift motor do some cleaning
