View Full Version : Slave Cylinder Issues

After my slave cylinder failed, I went ahead and replaced the clutch and slave cylinder with new units. After everything was back in together I had topped off the reservoir and had my wife pump and hold my clutch while I cracked open the bleeder valve. At first I started to get a little bit of fluid coming out slowly. Then nothing would come out. I can't seem to get fluid out of it, and it'll "puff" a little bit of air. What am I doing wrong with this? Or is my master cylinder bad?

Thank you,

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Joe

Take the old slave and remove the master cylinder and put everything on a workbench, fill the master with fluid and then bleed it on the work bench, then install and bleed more. The ranger clutch is a huge PITA to bleed and the way the master cylinder sits in the truck, it's really easy for air to get in there and STAY in there, no matter how much you bleed.

This is what I have come to find out. Would I be able to remove the master cylinder and keep it connected but turn it so that it allows the air to escape? Or would a vacuum pump pull that air out?
