This is the start of my 5.0 ranger. I bought the truck and a spare for $250. the 92 started life as a 3.0 v6 and is soon to become a carbed 5.0 with either an AOD or a C4.I started this taer down by complete removal of the motor, transmission computer and all the related wiring. used wiring digrahms from autozone .com to trace out the Wires I needed to keep. oil temp water temp and a hot for the coil.

that's one of my little helpers on the hood.

The bucket o wires left from the computer removal. not that bad once you figure out the wire diagrams. Mine came from the Zone.

I hate distributors with the coil built into it.

Your taking a GM idea and putting it in a Ford. :ooer:

Just kidding... whatever makes you happy. I have a pro-comp 7000 series distributor. It's a hunk of crap to change anything. If you pull it out the gear usually stays in an it has to be pulled out with a long pair of needle noses. It's nothing to worry about falling apart, just a bad design.

Spend the money and get something decent.

what would you suggest? I like the Idea of hei just becuase of the one wire hookup and those looked to be built decent from the pics. not just their word on it.could spend a little more money on something that was just the first one I found. that had a name.
