Hello everyone!!
My name is mike and I am a car nut and I live in Queen Creek, AZ. I have been building cars and trucks for about 26yrs and plan on going for many more years to come. I have 3 mustangs that I have built and still playing with and now planing on doing a V8 ranger conversion. I used to be an auto tech and worked at a few dealerships and some small shops around the Phoenix area. I am a locksmith and work for myself and have been going for almost 5 years now. I picked up a 94 reg. cab Ranger with a 3.0/auto in it and it was taken over my my son who is almost old enough to get his licence. I just found another Ranger extra cab 3.0/5speed that has a bad engine in it so this one is going to be my V8 conversion........Mike.

I built one of those for a customer and used the 88 T-bird engine and wiring and computer with the ranger/mazda 5-speed trans. That was one fun little ranger and still got great fuel milage.

I am gathering parts for this swap and will post up some pics of the truck and the engine as I go. I am not very good with posting pics as they are always to big. I will post what I am doing with the swap as I go. Any input that you guys have for my swap I will listen to as many you have been there and done that........Thanks Mike.

Hey Mike, Welcome! Good site, good people. As mentioned, have to visit the V-8 section. About any type of swap has been done, mild to crazy wild (as in stroked 460).
Some very knowleable people and beatutiful workmanship. Jump on in and enjoy the madness!

Hey guy's thanks for the big welcome and I can wait to get started on mine. I picked up a 94 extracab 3.0/5-speed with as the old owner claimed a blown head gasket. I pulled the engine apart a few days ago only to find out that all six cylinders had water sitting in them and ruined the block so its 5.0 time. I am going to pick up a bare block and heads from a friend of mine tomarrow to use as a mock up motor to fit the headers and to clearence the a/c box as I live in AZ and its HOTT here. I will be picking up a 4.0hd rad and maybe a V8 ex one also and see which one I can make work. The engine that I have already is a 96 Explorer 5.0 fully dressed with the GT40 non-P heads. I will be adding an E-cam and milling the heads .020 for a little more compression and will be using the Crane cams 44308-1 valve spring kit along with 1.6 roller rockers. This should be a fun little truck when I am done.
