View Full Version : How do I take off the trim around the stereo?

If anybody knows how to take of the black trim piece around the stereo and a/c controls in a 2000 i need some advice

I can handle the easy ones . . .

Two screws above the heater controls (facing down so you can't see them) - then just pull on it. It's held on with clips.

Yeah. Unsrew the switch in the back though.

I'm having the worst time getting that rubber crap off of that thing. Haven't gotten zippo lighter fluid but I've tried m.e.k. (don't use it), rubbing alcohol, bbq lighter fluid. Those didn't work. I guess I'll break down and go looking for the zippo lighter fluid. Hope it works cuz i'm getting frustrated.

You used MEK on that? Damn you're brave, that's some nasty stuff to mess with.

Yeah pretty dumb all it is, is acetone that evaporates slower. It sanded down smooth though, no worries.
