Hey guys, I bought a 1991 Ranger XLT way back in February. I just haven't got around to joining any forums until now. It's equipped with the 2.3 engine and 5-speed gearbox, 2wd. About a year before I bought it the previous owner had it painted a nice metallic blue w/ some black stripes, so the paint is in excellent condition. It had 131,xxx miles. The only thing that was wrong with it (at the time) was the interior. The headliner and visors were torn up, and the driver's seat had a few rips and cigarette burns. That wasn't an issue, so I bought it for the low price of $1,650.
Since then I have done some work to improve my truck. This includes:
-Fixing the headliner and visors, $65 for material and labor
-Replace the clutch slave cylinder (it started to leak shortly after purchase), $90 for the part (I do mechanical labor myself)
-Replace the outer tie-rod ends, $50 for parts
-Replace plugs and plug wires, $45 for parts
-Replace air filter, $25 for Spectre cone filter
-Replace worn, undersized (195/60R14) tires, $350
-Misc. aesthetic stuff, $50 estimated
So in reality this truck has cost me $2,325. Not bad for a vehicle that runs perfectly and is in excellent condition. In the future I hope to lower it, because that's how I roll.
