anybody know if the ranger 8.8s came with 3.08 gears and if so where can i lay my hands on one , my fuel mileage is crap with 3.45s

you could get a ranger with an 8.8" 3.08. i think that is a base option kind of deal on the 4.0. should be plentiful on 4.0 rangers not owned by performance-minded people.

I think I have a set that I pulled from my 93 a few years ago. I changed to 3.73's and an Auburn. I'd let them go cheap. If you are interested I will verify the ratio and that I still have them on the shelf. They have about 65K miles and were fine when I pulled them.

I cant use them unless they came from a 7.5 , thats what i have now.

the 1984 police interceptor mustangs had 7.5 rearend with 3.08 tractionlok rearend,the standard rear for the mustangs with a 5.0 and 5 speed that year was 7.5 with 2.73
