View Full Version : Engine swap for bronco 2 keffa11 Mar 25 2002, 01:36pm Hey, I have just bought myself a 1984 bronco 2, love it, and am wondering what engines could i swap into it, including diesels. Do i need a hybrid turbo or can i find a ford 2.9 turbo to fit in an 84 bronco 2? Many thanks RTS Ranger Mar 30 2002, 09:35pm I have an 86 B2. it has a 2.9 v6. 3 yrs ago it needed a rebuild so i went thru the rebuild thing and ended up putting 1600.00 in it. and i did all the work myself except for machine work.personally i think i wasted my money. i could have put that money in a V8 swap and been much much happier. i am putting a v8 in my 84 ranger which had a 2.8 and i did a rebuild thing on it about 6 yrs ago and i can tell you i wasted my money for sure on that swap. 2.8's are total junk and 2.9's are not much better although some. the best thing to do is just suck it up and do the v8 swap! you'll be much happier in the long run and the money you would have wasted on that six cylinder will be invested into something of significance. been there done that guy tom schisler Slimjim Mar 31 2002, 08:35pm Originally posted by keffa11 Ok i am thinking maybe a 2.9 turbo engine, maybe bigger. The best swap is probly a 5.0, or a 4.0, then you could supercharge it. 89BII Apr 20 2002, 09:33am Just stick a V8 in it and you should be fine. |
