I have a Kenwood 50x2 amplifier and whenever it been on for a while it gets really hot, and when I turn up the volume it just shuts off, but I can still hear (feel) my subs, its just my highs. Do you think the amp is blown? I am already thinking about getting a 200 amp alternator. I will have a 700 watt stereo system, (6) KC Daylighters, (2) KC Hilites Fog lights, and the factory driving lights. With all this do you think I need to get a new and higher output alternator to run all my goodies?

Do you have all 4 speakers on that one amp? If it is running at a 2 ohm load it will makw the amp run alot hoter and it might be going into thermal protection. A 200 amp alt sound like a good idea and a deep cycle yellow top optima battery should take care of you electrical problems.

I am just running just the front two speakers of my truck on that amp. And I also have an interstate battery in my truck. I dont know what its running at.
