Has anyone ever swapped their A4LD out for a 4r55 or 5r55? I've done a little digging and it seems as though all the numbers for shaft links, bolt patterns, etc are the same. But its the electronics that are another question.

these new trannys like the 5r55e have more electronics then your A4LD. In orther words you'd have to convert your whole truck to the new EEC5 system probably to get these to work, I'm not sure about this, I've never even thought of doing this due to the fact that its still a C3 with overdrive! So?? There are some guys that you need to talk to about your A4LD, Baumann Engineering. They build soem good ones along with converters and electronic controllers. They will have alot better answer for you and might have a controller to make this swap possible.
