View Full Version : My Mazda Highwayman Jul 21 2001, 06:52am This is just a teaser pic, but you'll find more here : http://www.rangerforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4395 Zoom Jul 21 2001, 02:40pm That's a good looking truck! I wondered what mine would look like without the fender flares on it, other than mine being red it would look like yours. I like it better the way yours looks. Mazda did a good job with the fender contours on these, and I think the flares cover that up too much. Nice choice of accessories you have there too. :) Fonzie Jul 21 2001, 06:23pm Nice, I'm waiting til Christmas for my Brush guard and step bars, my wife already promised me!!! I should have it lifted by then too!!! Very nice buddy!!!!!!!!! Zoom Jul 21 2001, 06:48pm I just remembered something I was going to ask. Your Smittybilt side steps, do they extend out beyond the side of the truck very far? If you could, I'd like to know how far. I have a set of these for the four door with the two step inserts that I bought for my 99 Ranger but never put on. I sort of held them up one time to see, but it's hard to tell without mounting them. Mine mount to the cab mounts, do yours mount the same way? I bought them mostly for the protection from door dings, I like them a helluva lot better than running boards. Thanks 97B4000 Jul 21 2001, 11:02pm Sweet truck Highwayman. Always liked the slight flairside that the 98's had. Plus you have fog lights I really want some on my truck. It doesn't show up in the pic, but I have a nasty dent on the lower left corner of the passenger side door. I think some a$$ did it in the parking garage down town. Anyway, they do stick out enough for a step (of course), but I wish they stuck out a little further. If you get along the side of your truck (standing by the front fender, looking down at the widest part of the door), they stick out about 2in farther. I my case as a 2wd, they wouldn't protect the doors from dings unless it was to come from a droped import, but you might have better luck since you have a 4wd. Yes, mine bolt to the cab bolts also. You actually take out the stock bolts and use the longer ones provided in the box. I'll give you a helpful tip now: if you don't have a 4 door, take your seats out. It makes things a hell of a lot easier! Highwayman Jul 22 2001, 04:34pm Originally posted by 97B4000 Sweet truck Highwayman. Always liked the slight flairside that the 98's had. I think that's just a weird reflection of the sun. I do plan to get some, but probably after I get new tires. It makes things a hell of a lot easier! Thanks Highwayman. I didn't think they stuck out very far. I have the 4 door, but when I started to put them on my 99 Ranger it looked like it wasn't going to be easy anyway. You have to remove the rear jump seats, and those darn cab bolts are in there TIGHT! I loosed the one at the back, the one at the front just kept turning the round washer/nut at the bottom. I was doing it by myself and didn't have any way to hold it from below. Good thing I suppose, I traded the 99 for my Mazda 6 months later. EdgeR6 Jul 22 2001, 10:37pm I think that is one of the best looking Mazads I have seen yet. Keep up the good work. Highwayman Jul 27 2001, 06:03pm Thanks EdgeRanger! MB2300 Jul 30 2001, 10:02pm I like your truck man. It looks tight especially your front end, the grill and all the chrome around it, matches really good taste. :) |
