View Full Version : Products that suck
Roadrunner Jul 22 2001, 10:02pm This thread is for any products you guys have used which well as the subject line says: sucks!
Here are some that I have tried
Turtle wax color polish- Looked nice but I should have known better to try it. It made the paint look ok, but it was not the right shade. The chip stick was even worse, it would hide a scratch for a few days or untill it rained even with a coat of wax over it.
maidenusa Jul 25 2001, 03:47am SOOOOO!!!!!! TRUE
I'll be on one of my ford lots and have one there cust ask me what i think about the dye wax and i tell them w/ a smile its like water color and they should give a try if they just want to throw away or just pay me for stopping them from wasting there time !!
BUT hey i even bought a pet rock 33 years ago and let him go in the woods because he would'nt do what i told him to do, but i was only seven then !
I'm glad to hear that you know that there is no shorts cuts in making our trucks looking gooooood
THE PAINT MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was trying to keep it to C&D products, but I guess Firestones suck enough to make the list. You could always use them as rope swings!
Blue94 Jul 27 2001, 08:31pm hmm i've got 2. GS27 is shoulda known this stuff doesn't do anything. i mean it does nothing i tried and tried and tried i couldn't even get a clearcoat scratch out:cussing:
turtle wax zipwax it's wax and carwash in one bottle it is two seperate layers and you are supposed to shake them together to get them to work. this stuff leaves spots like nothing i've ever seen before i had to wash my truck after washing it to get rid of the spots.:cussing:
there are more but i can't think of them right now. i'll post as they come to me
mygreen96 Jul 28 2001, 12:29am :drunk: I just did the Turtle Wax Color gaurd on my dark greenie and so far Im ok with it. It took away the light shade of the scratch but the scratch didnt disappear but I really couldnt expect that right?
mygreen96 Jul 28 2001, 12:33am Stay away from blue coral "Screw onto hose hose and wash " carwash. it eats the rubber seals around your windows.
Im also not impressed by the original Armor All protectant anymore
gts007 Jul 29 2001, 09:53pm Yeah I never once put any trust in that GS-27 crap, since after all, it was on an informercial. That automatically makes it a pure bull**** product. The effects they integrate into the infomercial demonstrations is just sickening. From everything I've heard, they should just call it GS27-- car scratch enhancer, because that's all it does.
mygreen96 Jul 29 2001, 10:00pm Pimpin drumkit ...Me too bang on drums. what brand is that?:pimp:

Under gts007's username is a nice drumkit and I was wondering what brand they are that all...
RngrRcr Jul 29 2001, 11:08pm also stay away from the blue coral soap that has wax in it... it looked filmy on the paint when i was done and i had a terrible time trying to clean it off the windows....:cussing:
also i hate the generic turtle wax... i wasnt impressed with the fact that it enhanced my swirl marks and minor scratches...:cussing:
also turtle wax tar and bug remover... even after i let it soak into the bugs i had to use my fingernail to take them off... i had the same results with regular car soap, so why waste money on bug remover if it doesnt help...:cussing:

Highwayman Aug 06 2001, 07:40pm I think you should be safe and stay away from EVERYTHING made by Blue Coral. I tried their dumb polish, I can't remember the name right now, but it was the one they had on the info-mercial about 5 years ago. Anyway, it ruined my paint so bad, that I called to complain. Before I really got into my speech, they said they would pay to have it removed. They paid for a local shop here in Houston, TX to completely buff out the car. By the time the local shop finished, the car looked as if it was just painted. I'm thinking they had a lot of people complaining about their crap and they were fearing a lawsuit.
This was 4-5 years ago, but I still wouldn't buy any of their products.
My $.02

spotdog14 Aug 16 2001, 12:25pm i have found out that eagle one is a really bad protectant for your interior.
mygreen96 Aug 16 2001, 05:45pm Eagle Ones' Tire Wet Spray isnt very good either.:cussing:
Dan_d_glassman Aug 16 2001, 07:29pm I threw away the Black Magic Vinyl Protector I bought one time to replace the Armor All. It should be called Black Magnet the way it attracts dust and fuzz after you apply it. Smells funny too, like those funky air freshner crowns that the :pimp: 's use.
