Do you have the KKM Max kit (the complete tube etc.) on your 2.5? What happens to the IAT sensor when this kit gets installed. I'm planning to make my own intake but I don't know how to deal with the IAT and I don't want to just reuse that section of the stock tube.

KKM should have a a spot for the IAT, when you make your own intake just drill a hole for the IAT. You could also do the IAT mod the 3.0 guys are always talking about.

what exactly is the IAT mod since im going to be making my own intake.

The IAT mod is done to change the "perceived" temp by the engine computer.

The temp sensor removes resistance from the line as air temp gets cooler. As the computer recives more current flow (less resistance) the computer will change the fule curve to adapt to different air. This is done by adjusting the timing and fuel flow.

By placing a resistor in the line the computer will read more resistance in the line than there actually is, making the computer think the air is cooler than it is. The computer adjusts to give the engine more fuel since colder air is more dense, i also believe there is an adjust with timing.

All you have to do is place a resistor on the line either befoe or after the sensor, it dosn't matter.

I can tell a difference on hot day sine my engine has a much smoter idle.

Get a resisto from 2k(small resistance) up to 100K(lots of resistance). I will affect gas milage, but you can ire a switch to use the resistor only at certain times.

Check the 3.0 board for more info

The IAT plugs into the KKM (S&B) filter near the rear. There is a rubber hose that hangs out of the rear of the filter and that is where the IAT goes. To get this to work on the ranger 2.5 you have to cut the wires and lengthen them about 6 inches. I chose not to do that and just hung the filter on the stock intake and said to hell with the chrome pipe......Oh, since I left the IAT in the stock place I plugged the hole in the filter.

look for a little wire plugging into the intake tube close to the tb...
