I'm new and all to this board, but I've been researching a lot on the SVO's and so far the 86 is the best I've seen, and I think that's when they quit making them. I haven't seen a SVO engine passed 86 around here.

Hey everyone,

I am looking a little help, i have just got my hands on a bran new turbo system for my 96 ranger and intercooller and all chrome. The issue that i have is i have talking it up and some people say the stock 2.3 will do fine with the new T3/T4 Garrett turbo systems but then i think i should have the engine ported polished and get forged piston put in. I have my own garage so i am doing it all on my own but looking for some advise. danger94ranger what are the specs on you stock motor???

hybrid on stock motor? Sounds like fun, to prevent speculation about how much boost and such the stock internals can take just put it on and let us know how it goes and how long it lasts. :D

If you got all those shiney new parts then you might as well slap it into something that can handle the boost. Rebuild it and put the forged internals in it.

How much did that kit run you man?

Just build up your motor man so you can see what that turbo can do instead of running low boost.

ummm... stock 94 ranger, ported TOHC (tri overhead cam) head, only one made, it was an expiramental head built by Arnelli racing but never went into production, makes about 329 HP, and 478 ft/lbs or torque @ 43 PSI, fully forged 6 lobe crank, drilled and filled with helium (makes rotating mass 16% less) and capped, the T-88 turbo (not exactly stock) has an upgraded splice bearing that sends a harmonic vibration up stream of the boosted air to improve throttle response, and of course i have a fully hardened magnesium 5 inch exhuast

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????????????

no ranger has ever came turbo'd stock.... less your talking bout the mexican/canadian 2.0L diesels...

yeah i was pretty convinced there for a few minutes, i was starting to get jealous. lol no seriously i think people are just asking these Q's to piss us off, like there is a thread in another board that says goto the 2.3t board and ask if you can turbo your stock truck cause they get all pisssed off, how bout we just stop answering these questions and let people figure out how to scroll or use search

the 87SVO had 270 HP stock and had a DOHC, so yes it would be faster than a 85.
