JDN2424 Jul 30 2001, 08:28pm In my opinion the brakes on the Ranger are too small. It doesn't take much to warp the rotors and eat up the pads. First, I wore down my pads in a little iver 20,000 miles. (Not bad but I think they should have gone longer.) And to warp the rotors, it doesn't take more than a constant stop from 90 mph. I learned that fast. When I am in that speed range, I slow down pumping the brakes. Jarrett Jul 30 2001, 08:40pm My brakes have done that since the day I drove the truck off the lot and I have 37k miles on it now. I had it checked at about 20k and the rotors were turned. I'm getting a brake job done later this week or next week so hopefully it will be resolved. Zoom Jul 30 2001, 09:15pm You can warp them by making a normal stop, and hit a puddle of water. It doesn't really take a lot. I'm with JDN on this one, the Ranger could use some larger brakes. They put larger rotors on Mustangs. |
