Has any one ever used the absorber to dry their rangers? I read in hot rod where chamois can scratch the paint:confused:

I hate those things. They always pic up dirt and it is impossible to get off. That is when they scratch the paint. I just use a good clean towel.

One thing I won't use on the body anymore is any kind of terry cloth.

I use the california ?water blade? ( a big soft squedgee) and it works great for big areas and if it gets dirty you can just rinse it out.

the absorber is the greatest product. Everyone who ive ever known that has one swears by it. If you wash your truck good and get all the dirt off, then it doesnt pick up dirt. Mine has never scratched my paint. . . I always rinse it out when im done and store it in the tube moist. . . .it's a great little invention. the greatest is when you buy it the package says to like take it to the beach and dry off, or dry your dog off with it. . haha

I remember a buddy of mine said he used to dry his 2000 cougar with a leaf blower, and then use a cloth dry the areas that are left......has anyone ever tried this?

You can pic one up at WalMart. They even come in different colors. They are quite possible one of my most valued possesions when it comes to cleaning and detailing. I keep one in the shop and in all my cars. When they get dirty, just throw them in the washing machine. Everyone needs to have one of these things!

I've been using The Absorber for a couple of years and it's the best. I use it to dry off the exterior and then I wipe of the interior. Do the dash first, then hit the doors and door sills. When It gets dirty, and it will, just throw it in the washing machine...good as new!

I think I have the best of both. I use the California water blade to get most of the water off, and the Absorber to get the rest. The water blade is great, it just takes a while to get used to how to hold it. I also use the California Duster to remove pollen in the spring.

Try one and you will love it. They cost about half of what a chamois costs....$9.99 at AutoZone and most parts stores. Rinse them well after use and store them in the clear plastic container they come in. I've used the same one for years.

Oh hell yeah, I love my Absorber... Get one. They might seem expensive at $7 (that's what I paid for mine 3 years ago) but they last forever and like everyone said you toss it in the wash and it comes out good as new!

As for using compressed air to dry your truck, I know the mechanic at the Suzuki dealer always used the blow gun on his compressor to dry his bike off after a bath. He'd use an Absorber to get the major water off the fairings, then blow the rest of it out and do a final once-over with the Absorber to finish the job up. I suppose you could do the same thing with the trim, the wiper cowl, the door handles and all the trim, etc. Should work great! I know my tonneau cover holds water in the trim, even after letting it dry out in the garage overnight it still had tons of water that blew all over the sides of my bed when I drove it to work the next day... A little air woulda gotten rid of all that water!

I had always used a natural chamois and been happy, but I switched to a synthetic (man-made) chamois after I heard a professional detailer say on the radio that the natural ones actually strip your wax off.

I just bought an Absorber like 2 weeks ago, and I think it's great!
I advise Chamois users to switch.

the absorber is great , ive been very happy with it. it takes about half the time to dry my truck than with normal towels, you just have to keep it clean and make sure it dont get dirt on it.
