I don't know squat about audio - I'm just looking to add some thump but I have to keep the jumpseats (kids.) I have a '00 4 dr ext cab. Looking just for a good sounding system that doesn't have to be the loudest - basically new speakers amp and some thump. I've talked to a couple of shops and been told $200 bucks for 2 boxes built for 8" that would fit under the seats. Seems high to me just for the boxes - is this high? Anybody have a set up like this? Thanks in advance for any reply... Dale :afro:
you could try just replacing your regular speakers (doors and stuff)with better ones and power them with an amp and see if that makes it sould like what you want

yeah that sounds high for just boxes. 2 8"s should give you enough thump. But first replace the stock stuff like Kris said and maybe get an amp to run them. Try 6.5" components so you can put your tweets up higher so they aren't being blocked by your legs.

Bazookas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get one of those 8" bass tubes or 2 6.5" tubes with a 100 watt X 2 ch amp and your in business. These will bring up the low end of your stereo but it wont make the mirrors on the car infront of you shake.

Hey NekkedDawg, I was trying to do the samething you are doing...and bought the 2 10" Pioneer Premier subs, was thinking that it would fit, but the magnet on the Premier subs are huge!!! So I ended up going alittle higher... Now I have to take the boxes out or stack them up to use my jumper seats...but they sounded good, and that's what it matters :E

P.S. Hey Nik, about the link to your website in your Sig...you have to take out the www. in front of the members  Bye!

You guys got any pictures of what this looked like when you finished? I'm looking to do that myself, but just havent figured out how to do it. I was kinda looking for somthing that would go behind the jump seat and be heard when you folded them out and down. Know what I mean??

here it is again....boxes in this pic were 13.5 x 13.5 x 5.5 inches outer diameter. super simple to make. you could make them longer but i wouldnt recommend much longer than the rear of the front door opening. my boxes b4 these were for 2 premier 12" subs. yes, those subs had a deep mounting depth. they were also kinda long, making it kinda hard for my gf's daughter to get in and out....
do NOT spend $200 on boxes when u can get the materials to make em for $20-30. if u got most of the tools or can borrow em u r in luck...
