I saw a post on turboford.org by the guy named MAP??? He said he was going to develop a turbo header. Did he ever do it or what? I have other questions for you regarding a custom header and a different location for the turbo but that can wait as I do some research on my own this weekend. Thanks.:)

Also, have you heard anything about the new 2.3's? I have heard that they will be able to handle some serious boost. Any truth to that?:)

I saw that post as well, and I suggested he come over here where we could ask him about it, but he hasn't shown up yet. I think his header shows promise, but I still want to know what he's going to ask for it. I'd also like the turbo to be lower than flipping the manifold (which is what this header is said to approximate) will put it, but that's just me. If I were putting a header together, I'd put it in basically the stock location but extend it down to where the turbo would sit underneath the A/C plenum, But since I have neither a welder, source for the tubes, or expertise to put one together, I guess we'll depend on the ones who do until I (or someone else) gets that far.

On the Duratec 2.3...I'm pretty impressed with everything I've read about it so far, but I haven't made it out to drive one yet. The internals should be able to handle some boost, but I don't know anybody who's tried it yet or anything. I'm not even sure what the compression ratio is...that will determine it's tolerance for boost in stock form. Once they start showing up in the junkyards (a year or two at most) I think we'll start learning a lot more about them - that's when the really inventive guys can get ahold of them and make them do insane things on a budget.

I thought about trying to design a header to put the turbo down low in front and to the right. Mounted transversely(read horizontally) I think it would work awesome. I've really been cooking my brain on this one. Have you got specs on sizes of turbos? IHI, T3 and the like. I know it's gonna be cramped anywhere I decide but here looks like the most promising not too mention you get to keep ac(too hot here in GA). I'll keep you posted. Gonna take measurements this weekend. I'll post pics soon as I get them.:)

Sounds pretty good...I guess I just prefer to "hide" it. ;)

What measurement of the turbo would you like? Most people decide on the turbo they need/want, then find a place to put it.
