Ever hear of punctuation? ;)

$300 is an excellent price for a running, driveable car.
I'm not sure how much, if any, the driveshaft will have to be cut...you may actually need a longer one. (I'm assuming it's a T5)
If it is a T5, the shifter will be about 6" further back than the stock hole, and this'll probably put it into the (split) bench seat.
For getting going, the 85 computer will be fine, you can always upgrade later. If you want to go ahead and do it now, try to find either an LA3 or spend the money you saved on the car on a PE. The LA3 will require adding another sensor, the ACT, to the intake.
