I took it off the other day and to tell the truth it would not be that big of a hassle to shave it off only if i could close that bigg ass ,,hallways''inside of my third brake light(left&right),throw some body filler inside, sand it off and i think i would be readdy to go or would it be any good to weld some kind of a metal plate over my 3-rd brake light, put some body filler and that's it?

Anyone did this on their own??

Thanx

Well you definitely don't wanna just try to fill the hole with body filler, there's no way that will work. It would shift and crack like crazy. You need to weld in a metal filler plate, grind all the welds smooth, and then use body filler to smooth it out.

Yeh that's what i thought!!!
So just weld the metal plate thing over and i shoul be fine!!

PS
Is this legal and would i be able to pass that yearly inspection if i do this??

Thanx 4 your help man!!

Well technically you'd need to weld the metal filler plate inside the opening, not on top of it, so it would sit flush. As far as I know, no one makes a filler plate, but you might try Alter Images (they have ads in MiniTruckin'), they custom make a lot of body parts.

As far as the inspection goes, I'm not sure. I know that there was some sort of law that required all vehicles after a certain year to have a third brake light, but I don't know if this is required to pass inspection or not. We don't have strict inspections like that in GA so we don't have to worry about it.
