hey
i need some help on painting my bumpers and grill.. right now it looks like crap, i have the stupid grey ones that started turning green for some reason... im painting it black cause i think that would look pretty cool with the color of my truck.. anyways can anyone help me out a bit with what all i will need and what steps to take?? thanks alot

Well heres what I did with my grille, I first sanded it totally down, and got rid off all that sparkly stuff. Not sure if the xl's have it. I wet sanded it down with like 400 grit, then I primered it. Then since I dont have a color that is easily available in a spray can, my dad has a spray gun and we bought a pint of acrylic enamel and he sprayed it. But not many people have guns. But for a grille you dont need a gun. As for the bumpers I, ill wait for kwik to respond to that.

so i'm gathering here that you have an XL? if so, you could just get a red scoth brite bad & scuff it all down real good & spray spray them...

or you could like Chris said, sand it all down with 220 & prime any spots where you may go thru at, then sand the primer down & wetsand with 400 or 600. then you can go with your sealer & paint paint..

its all in how ya want to do it.. scuffing with a red scotch brite is the easiest route tho. just scuff it, clean it, & spray it:)

if you have any stone chips on the bumper, you'll wanna sand them out with a DA with some 220 & rime the spots where ya go thru.

I painted my grille with a spray can. It looks good too. A bit darker than the rest of my truck, but my truck has faded. But I don't think you'll really notice the diff in it unless you are looking for it.

i dont really want to color match the bumper to the rest of the truck, do you all think black will go good with the silver truck??

If you have a pic of your truck on your comp, or can get one on your comp, send it over to the photo-shoppin' boys, They can do some real kick ass work, will gove you a taste of what you can have.

The black will definately go good with silver. Thats the color of my truck. Silver with black bumper, grill, and dark tint. But my black is a little faded.
