I found a ranger for sale which has everything I want, except a manual transmission. My question is how difficult would it be to swap out the tranny for a five speed manual. Also what type of shop would be best suied to do this. Its a 1993 Splash 3.0v6 with automatic and overdrive. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.:(

THis is what Im doing to my ranger, and this is what Ive found. You need:
Pedals
Master Cylinder
fluid lines
tranny (duh :E)
shifter
shifter boot
computer (suggested, but not required)
The truck should be about ready for the stuff to be installed. All the wholes in the firewall should either already be punched, w/ some sort of cover bolted over it, or they should be notched, but not punched out.
YOu willl also need the plate that goes on the floor where the shifter goes through the floor. In mine, that plate just blots in place, but Ive head of the plate being welded in place in some.
The computer unit is suggested, cause it will hold the RPM's while your shifting. I guess if your good w/ a manual tranny, then it wouldnt really matter.
Im pretty sure that Im forgetting something, but Im tired, and I have to leave for work in a few minutes. I will take a look at what I have, and let you know if I remember anything else.
