View Full Version : Questions about hoods and lights
97B4000 Jun 15 2001, 12:00am First question
Can I use a ranger hood for a mazda? I have 97 B4000 and was wondering if I can get a fiberglass hood, but I've never seen one made for mazda's.
Second question
Does anyone know if in 97 mazda offered a factory valence for fog lights like the ranger's have?. If not can I use the ford valence. Only problem with the ford valence if it works is that on the mazda the front turn signal lights are in the stock valence on my truck.
Finally, are mazda tailights the same as the ranger's on the (94-97?) style mazda's?. I'm pretty sure the headlights are different. I really want to get some altezza's (is that what there called?) for the back of the truck.
thanx
I know that the hoods on at least the 98-01's are the same. I think the 97's are too. The 01's are the same as the XLT's.
I don't know if Mazda offered a factory valence for the fog lights, but the one from a Ranger should fit. Not sure what you would do about the turn signals, maybe swap for the Ranger light assembly?
The tailights should be the same as the Ranger.
Hope this helps.
Fonzie Jun 15 2001, 09:31pm Yeap on the taillights, they will fit but are style wise different!!!
spode Jun 20 2001, 02:37pm I used the factory Ford valance for my 97 Mazda. I thought the bolts would line up perfect but they do not. I did ge it on with out to much trouble though. I lined up the farthest back holes on the valences with two holes on the bumper. I also got to other holes near the center to line up. Then I used some trim molding adhesive to make sure the rest stayed tight against the bumper. It turned out really well. As for the turn signals I spliced in some extra wire so I could run them up to the parking lights. Those are now my blinkers. I don't see why this would be illegal cause that is where the orange blinkers are on the rangers anyway. I will find my photos and try to get them up by the weekend

Everyone likes a little a$$ now and then but nobody likes a smarta$$. If you don't like Mazdas then don't read the B forum. If you have some constructive comments then we welcome them, if not then keep them to yourself.
Hey Charlie, glad you stopped by. :)
O-Ranger Jun 20 2001, 07:03pm You mean constructive like "Welcome to the board." and "Thanks for the help." I read most of the boards and if I can't help, I try to be encouraging. And, if you don't appeciate my humor, skip my posts. Side note - I have nothing against Mazdas - and actually think that they did a much better redesign than Ford and offer a lot more to their customers. I also think that as little traffic as this board gets, it needs the numbers to keep it going.
Thanks for your comments and helpful suggestions.
Charlie Jun 20 2001, 07:18pm Sorry, I'm just a little bit cranky. I'm working 12 hour graveyard shifts right now and I never get enough sleep when I work nights. My 7 year old and 4 year old see to that.:) Please keep visiting our board but just cut us a little slack.

O-Ranger Jun 21 2001, 04:14pm I think we already kissed and made up. I'm gonna be less of a smart sh*t and Charlies going to get more sleep.
Still, I'm not going to sit here and stare at "Last Post Fonzie" forever. C'mon Mazzers. . . get a move on.
Happy Mazda B-ing!
(Notice, I did not say Wanna-B-ing.)
Fonzie Jun 21 2001, 04:46pm See, even an old dog can learn new tricks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh Oh, Fonzie called O an old dog (j/k). Even though he thinks you're an old dog, O, I appreciate the lack of a wanna-b comment. :)
