I bought a Eaton Roots M90 supercharger from the JY of a 90 model ford cougar XR7 with a 3.8. I got the S/C, MAF, TB, Intercooler, Intercooler tubes, and a set of 24#/hr injectors for the low low price of $50 bucks. The JY guy told me I had to take it off because he didn't want his workers to screw it up taking it off. The original deal was $50 for just the S/C and I figered since I was out there takeing it off by my sef, I may as well help myself to all the other goodies i got hehehehehehe. Anyway, i have been talking with Brian mcKelvy(He fabricated an intake to mount an M90 to his 2000 4.0) and he has been a big help.
I can simplify the instalation by bolting the S/C directly to the lower intake via and adaptor or I can flip it over like ford did and use the intercooler i have and realive more power out of it. The S/C is in tip top shape and it was cheap as hell so I may realize some real power out of this 2.9er after all.
Brian had a very good idea about getting a dummy motor to test fit and make all of the brackets before I mount it all to my actual engine. Basically I am going to have to convert to MAF, fabricate an upper intake, fabricate crank pulley to drive S/C and mount S/C to line up with it, mount my intercooler and i think I might just mount an electric fan to it. That is just the big stuff, i am sure there will be other little things i will have to do before I finish but it will be fun, especially with all my friends and stuff so unwillingly to help and telling me i can't do it, you just wait until another one of them ask me to "help"(which means do everything) them with installing there drop kit. Uh no.
I really have to give a shot out to JP, I bet he went through the same stuff i am going through. Maybe when I get done, in about 6 months or more, we can meet up at a truck show and race em or something hehe.

Not everyone can do this BTw..WhenI first read this I though "Damn this guy has his work cut out for him!!!"

convert to MAF, fabricate an upper intake, fabricate crank pulley to drive S/C and mount S/C to line up with it, mount my intercooler

and My JY charges $500-600 for this.

My 302 is going to be cheaper, plus I got the T-5 included, can buy a kit to bolt it in, and will have a V-8 grumble in the lowrider when I'm done.

It will be cool as hell when you get her (the forced air) in, but you have skills I can never hope to posess, and got a 1 in a 1,000,000 deal!!

I haven't been online the last couple of days because I had to get a new modem. Anyway, I got the crankshaft pulley on yesterday. It's not on now I will have to leave it off until i get an electric fan. All i had to do to mount it was make an adaptor. I don't know how many of you have seen wheel adaptors but it works the same way. I got the machine shop to do this one because I don't want any vibrations. They already had some raw stock aluminum in a solid round peice. The way it is done it fits right inside of my C/S pulley and it has deep counter sunk holes for the 4 A/C pulley bolts and the C/S center bolt. Then as it comes out of the inside of my C/S pulley it gets big enough to bolt the 3.8L C/S pulley for the S/C o it. I am going to use the 3.8 pulley and just get a couple of other pulleys from Magnacharger to go on the S/C so I don't run to much boost. If i run both 3.8 pulleys I will be running around 15-16psi. I will get pics up whenever I quit spending my money on my truck and buy a camera.

I know that the 2.9 has 3 different belts to runn all the accesories, so you had another pulley made to run a 4th belt just for the S/C? Sorry if Im being really dense.

yes I did, I am sure that if you know the 2.9 has 3 belts you know it uses V-belts. I am going to run the S/C on a serpentine belt so i had an adapter made so i could mount the crank pulley for the S/C. I will have to have an electric fan before i can get the belt on because of clearance issues. I wanted to use the 4.0 serpentine pulleys in place of my V-groove pulleys and they are all direct fits(C/S,P/S,Alt.,W/P) exept for the A/C. The only way i can use the right A/C pulley is to use a new style compressor and the lines hook up to the new compressor different than they do mine so i just added another pulley to simplify everything. Also, if yo will do a little checking you will see that most S/C kits for mustangs and other cars use a seperat belt for the S/C.

Ok, sounds like an intersting idea. I dont think I would have thought of doing it that way.
