You would bo through lights pretty quickly and an alternator charging at 16 volts might ruin the battery pretty fast.
I have always been told not to exceed 15.2 volts.

Just out of curiousity, what would be the purpose of 16V?

The amps in my stereo system will take up to 17 volts with no problms. but 17 volts is kinda hard to get from a few sets of 8 volts. Basically i am going to give my amps as close to 16 volts as i can constantly to get maximum power out of them. just wondered what all in my truck will take the 16 volt charge if anything will. I think ill just isolate the truck off from the system power supply just to be safe...

If you want to go that route, then I guess the easiest way (altho I guess it probably wouldnt be that easy), would be to run a dedicated charging system just for your stereo. I dont know anything at all about the capacitors that people use w/ stereo's, but would it be possible to store the extra power from a charging system in some capacitors?

My Capacitor says 25Vmax, but how true that is, I don't know..in the ratings, on her sheet, it said it did 14.8 consistently, and had a peak of 25...but at what amperage that 25v was, i don't know...

Run a separate charging system for your stereo. Go over to sounddomain.com - they should be able to help you in the forums.

Check this (http://www.jacobselectronics.com/products/caraudio/fr1500.htm) out, it may be what you're looking for.

Well it seems to me the easiest way would be to buy a 16 volt racing Alt, and a 16V 3 post battery and run everything like normal off the 12V post and then run the audio equipment off the 16V post, would that not work?
