I have a 89 Ford ranger ext. cab, i just bought it, the bed has some rust hole in it, just like you would see on any other ford ranger, but it also has rust hole on the bottom of the be underneath the tail lights, the rust holes on the fenders look like they have been bondo'd before, i was wondering, if i should try to sand it all down and bondo it up. Or wait a while and get some money together to buy a new/used bed

it really depends on how much $$$ you want to sink into the bed.. you can buy replacement panels to weld in where the old rusty panels are.
i dunno man... i wouldn't go thru all the trouble of just "re-mudding" the bedsides again if it were me.. cuz its just gonna do it again in a matter of a year or two.you have to remove the rusted out panels in order to stop the rust. which in itself, is no easy task..
but on the other hand, trying to find a good bed in a junk yard that is in better condition then the one you have can be almost impossible...
its really up to you & what you want to put into it.
hope i helped:)

I was hit with my 97 splash and my bed side got all cracked up (fiberglass stepside) and the insurance made me a check up and i got a new one from ford for $560, and fixed it myself, but thats a splash so you might even get some brand new for around $400 from ford, DO NOT get the cheap Japan skins, they are crap and dont fit good at all, i used them before some a number of times.
If i was you just put new skins on From Ford, and no more pain in the ass Rustoration
