I have a 92 standard xlt tailgate with the brushed aluminum insert. I was curious if anyone knows if a 93+ smoothe tailgate will fit my 92? Thanks for any help!

Well don't know if it'll fit, but the tailgate would look different fromt the rest of your truck, with the lines and smoothness and all.

Sorry man, but it won't fit. At least without some serious mods. You could get a tailgate filler plate welded in to smooth it out or dish out $300 for a tricked-out califonia combo tailgate skin/rollpan from alter-images... I would definately go with the combo.

Thanks!

Juice, I didn't think about the lines of the truck until your post. I went out and looked and you are right, it would look different.

Type-91', I think I would like to try the weld in thing. Curious who has done such a thing and how much. What about the combo roll-pan? Are you familiar with the product? How does it look and do they have one for a 92. 92's are always overlooked.:(

I know someone on the boards has a tailgate filler on a 92 I believe (cant remember who). I would imagine it would cost around $300 for the labor of tacking one on and filling it in, but thats just a guess... i'm gonna do mine myself :) And the Alter-Images cali combo is a very good product (all their stuff is IMO) and yes, they make one for your truck. You have the last year of the 2nd generation Rangers...so anything made for 89-92 will fit your truck. I called Alter- last week and they make it for mine (91) so it'll fit yours perfectly. Also, when they make the combo you can have the license plate frenched in, LED brake lights flush mounted, supra tails, whatever you want (yea, those cost more). Anyways ill quit ramblin' if you wanna PM me with any other Q's, feel free...i've been looking into this lately too. Good luck with it.

Type-91',

Does Alter-Images have a website. Also don't forget to post pics of your mods!

Thanks!

hey man, welding the filler plate in looks real good. I have a pic of it on my computer but the file is too big to attach. I want to do it to my 89. Ill email you the pic if you give me your adress or find me on icq
