I havent yet just because Ive had no need to. Not until I start running NO2, boost or high compression. The gains from just that may or may not be worth it right now... There are other mods that would be money better spent for you right now.

Hi CalPBrian,

OK, given my own experience of having an ignition kit for my 5.0L, F-150 I thought it was money well spent, but not knowing how well Ford has designed and engineered the 2.3L Duratec ignition, I thought I would throw it out there.

My reasoning is as follows. The gap on the plugs is supposed by ~.041, which seems kinda low. Now that may be due to the factory building and designing a multi spark ignition ??? If the factory did not, then it would seem that a multispark setup would be ideal for a high revving 2.3L ???

My 95 5.0L motor comes with a stock setting of .048 and I reset the gap to .060 with the igntion kit. It worked out to be all good. Better throttle response, slightly better mileage and a definite increase in HP and torque.

Thx Michael C

Mike, I too think you would be better adding those later, unless of course you plan on high performance acc. soon. Considering the ranger is completely distributor free, plus it has 2 plugs per cylinders, it already is efficient.

Now about your stang...my friend has a 93 5.0L with a distributor, does your 95 5.0L have one? If so, what aftermarket ignition did you use, what did it consist of (what brand, coil/type, wires, plugs etc,,,,)

Thanks,

Hi RangerKid,

<<Now about your stang...my friend has a 93 5.0L with a distributor, does your 95 5.0L have one? If so, what aftermarket ignition did you use, what did it consist of (what brand, coil/type, wires, plugs etc,,,,) >> It is actually a F-150 with a 5.0L, with a distributor, but very similar to the Mustang 5.0, provided it is not the HO motor.

I installed the "Torquer", which I really liked. At the time it was the hot set up ~ 1997, phat single spark, but the new ignition technology seems to be the "multi spark", which all the manufacturers now provide including Jacobs.

I tried the Ford Racing wires, but they arched way to much, (Misfiring) so I had to go back to stock. Nothing really fancy, just used copper plugs (Autolites), regapped to .060, installed into existing ignition loom, bolted coil/computer to firewall and shabang, installed.

Hope this was of some help !!!:afro:
