I will be there with my V8 ranger. Will be lots of fun. Heres the website Norwalk Raceway Park (http://www.norwalkraceway.com/results/friday.html) . Hope theres a good turn out of Ranger members !
p.s. Sorry Wed i got anxious !
Mike R. Mar 24 2003, 12:12pm i can't say for sure i'll be there or not just yet. but i'll try my best to let make it
Wed Turner Mar 24 2003, 04:13pm I know that I will for sure be there and I'm fairly sure that Gerry will be as well. The only thing that would stop me from going would be weather.
Mark98XLT Mar 24 2003, 04:37pm think i can hitch a ride from someone? id help pay for gas.... I cant race my truck, to slow so i just want to watch...
jasonsmf Mar 24 2003, 09:53pm I will be there!!!! I actually still have my raincheck from the rainout last summer, so I'm all set there :). I'm gunning to install my James Duff traction bars this weekend, I'm pretty sure I won't have time to get my phenolic spacer in by the 11th, ohh well. This will also be my inagural run on the 4.10's and trac loc (which i put in for the ill fated National Trails get together last fall). I'm pumped to get back to the track, I am looking forward to hanging out with the RPS guys there too (also hoping for a good turnout!!). Mark, I'd offer you a ride, but I'm gonna be coming from way down in Wapakoneta after work so I'll be way out of your way not to mention being a little late. Don't worry about being slow, you should go ahead and see what your 3.0 will do, fun no matter what times your turning out there.

b-mini94 Mar 25 2003, 12:08am hell ya, i was gonna go anyway with the b-2300. But probably wont race b/c i the fact that the clock stops at 30 seconds. lol, but i will see all of you guys there.. Can not wait till i see my ****y friend with the 350 5 speed pos firebird get killed by a ranger.
Look for the flaming red b-mini and wave me down. Maybe i will do one run before i get my 2.3 turbo engine and a 5 speed and see the 6 second improvement
jasonsmf Apr 02 2003, 08:33pm Well, weather.com is calling for 50 degrees and 0% chance of rain, now lets all hope it stays that way!!!!
Jason
Wed Turner Apr 03 2003, 04:23pm Man that does sound about perfect forcast. Lets keep our fingers crossed and pray that it is atleast that nice out. A little warmer wouldn't hurt some but I wouldn't want it much cooler. After playing around with an Acura NSX last night on the free way I'm all kinds of pumped to see some times.
Mark98XLT Apr 03 2003, 05:39pm im most likely going, may even take my dad!, and i can drive now since my grades are betta, anyone in ohio selling drop parts, let me know, ill prob be doing a drop in a future, as some know, wed, sorry for constantly bothering you about one with questions.
nagataXLT Apr 03 2003, 11:55pm Man, I really wanna go, take a few runs in the Ranger, and meet some of you guys, but that's a really long drive for me :( Probably at least 2 1/2 hrs, maybe 3. *Sigh* We'll see...
Wed Turner Apr 04 2003, 08:59am You are right that would be a huge haul for you. And for a only a friday night it seems a little over kill to me. I am planning on setting up atleast one meet at the drag strip in Columbus this year so don't feel like you have to come all the way up here to meet or us to run your truck. At the same time we'd be really happy to see you and have you up here.

Well, I talked to one of my buddies today and we may come up. We're off of school that day, so unless something comes up, I think we're gonna make the trip :) Wanna get an intake on before then though, so I've got a week to rig that up. As long as I can find the parts, that shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully the weather is good, as that would be the main factor keeping us from coming.
Edit: Out of curiousity, does Norwalk require any special safety equipment (such as a helmet) to run? I know that my blistering fast 3.0L Ranger (I'll be really happy to run low 17's, lol) doesn't need a 5-point harness or something like that, but do they require all racers to wear a helmet? I looked on the website, but didn't see anything. Thanks.
nagataXLT Apr 06 2003, 11:56pm Guys? I need to know whether I'll need a helmet to run or not...
OneLowRanger Apr 07 2003, 12:09am nagata...no, you don't need a helmet.
you do have to wear your seatbelt though:E
jasonsmf Apr 07 2003, 06:18am Yeah, Norwalk is pretty laid back when it comes to what you need to run. They don't really have a tech inspection before you run either. I usually just give the truck a once over before I run it, just to be sure. As long as you got your seatbelt, and your not dropping any excess amounts of fluids (or parts :-P ) you should be good to go. I think you gotta be running like 12's before they start requiring helmets or other safety equipment. See you guys there!!!!!
Jason
nagataXLT Apr 07 2003, 02:23pm Cool, thanks. My truck hasn't been leaking any fluids since the new engine went in (except for a small leak around the pickup tube in the coolant resovior, which should've been sealed up yesterday), and I have good seatbelts, so I think I should be ok :) Now all I need to do is rig up an intake...
Wed Turner Apr 07 2003, 10:47pm Norwalk is pretty laxed about saftey but they are deffinately safe. As long as your wearing your seat belt and have all the windows closed and your convertible top up you are good to go. I don't know specifically what they require but I know the truck rules are different than the car rules. Just got my shift light installed yesterday by my master electrician/installer (Gerry) and I'm all pumped up.
Mark98XLT Apr 08 2003, 03:31pm ill be there guys but not racing, my dad is tagging along to, nagata, dont blow your engine coming!

*Knocks on wood* That's a low blow man...*grumbles* Stupid tensioner...I'm not worried about the engine blowing, so hopefully it'll all be good (it should be) :) As long as the weather forecast stays good, I'll see everyone there.
XxXxCJxXxX Apr 10 2003, 10:55pm I may be out there 2marrow for my 1st meet with the RPS crew! I'm dieing to get out there, hopefully I can find either a hot girl or sum1 2 join me out there!
Gerry Apr 10 2003, 11:32pm I'm sorry to say but I won't be able to make it this time... I have to work Friday night. Not to worry,,, they'll be may more chance’s for everyone to see my Nitrous power beast (not a word Wed) run down the track:).

OneLowRanger Apr 11 2003, 12:05am so does that mean the NAWS is installed?!?!?!?

Hell NO! That would mean he'd actually have to make a decision about where he wanted to put his bottle. And he's have to "waste" an $8 gasket so he coudl put his new injectors in. Hell I even told him I'd pay for the damned gasket and it's still not installed yet.
OneLowRanger Apr 11 2003, 08:37am lmao, I don't know what I was thinking!

What did I just say,,,, not a word out of you :). It's not a gasket or bottle placement that's holding things up,,,, it's the damn weather. We haven't had to many warm days yet and the few that we have had were spent working on Wed's truck. I think he's just nervous I'm gonna whoop on his ass when I get everything installed .

How many times have I said we should put it on? I'm sure Mike would let his use his shop if it's still too cold for your old bones. I think it's the other way around, your just scared you still won't be anywhere close to me. :E
nagataXLT Apr 11 2003, 10:57am Oh, stop bickering you old farts ;):) Anyway, see everyone this evening. Any particular place we should look for everyone from here?
Wed Turner Apr 11 2003, 03:10pm You've probably already left, but you should be able to find us in the staging lanes. I don't know how many people will be there tonight but I'm not guessing that it's going to be that crowded. Plus there usually aren't that many Rangers there so we should be pretty easy to find.
b-mini94 Apr 12 2003, 12:56am Just got back guys, i hoping to get below 20 but my best time was a 20.467. I think i was te slowest person there. Anyway it was nice to see meet you guys and see Wed Turner and nagataXLT trucks. Hope to see you guys up there agian, might run it one more time b4 i get the turbo motor.
nagataXLT Apr 12 2003, 12:57am Hey, letting everyone know we made it back alive :) Had a damn good time tonight, was my first time do the track and I certainly had a blast. Cool to meet some more guys from here and get to chat about whatever. In case anyone's wondering, my nearly stock 3.0L (Flowmaster 40 series cat back, slightly hacked up airbox) ran a best of 17.185@78.2 MPH - not to shabby I'd say. Definitely gonna have to do some mods and take it to a track again...I'm hooked :E
jasonsmf Apr 14 2003, 02:32pm Hi all,
I had a great time at the track, got to meet a few new guys, the truck was running good for me, it was a good night. Since everybody is posting numbers, I was able to squeeze off a 16.5, beating a riced out Mystique (Mistake) hehehe. I'm real happy with how it ran, but I know there's more there, I just gotta learn how to get the most out of my launch (the 4.10's trac lock and drag radials make it a completely different beast than she was last year).
A word or two of advice for the group..... When the pits are muddy, and you drive through the mud, make sure you clean the mud off of the tires before you run, or else you will drop mud all down the first 60' when you spin and wheel hop like mofo as you fling mud all over the place...don't ask me how I know this :).
I can't wait till we all can make it out there again!!
Jason
clancy98 Apr 14 2003, 03:15pm thats great you guys had a good time.. I had to work late so I missed it! Lets hear some other times from the guys that attended (of course I am hinting at hearing Wed's times)
CLancy
Wed Turner Apr 14 2003, 05:06pm Weds times sucked. My best run of the night was the first pass at a 15.662 and the worst was a 15.896. There's a serious error between the gas pedal and the stearing wheel (otherwise known as ME) that needs to get corrected. I think I just need practice. Problem is getting the practice. Gerry and I have given serious consideration to renting the track for an afternoon. Would anyone else be interested?
clancy98 Apr 14 2003, 09:50pm $hit wed come on out to my place in the country. Lots of straight country roads you can practice your hookups on... Did you have your tbars on or not?
CLancy
jasonsmf Apr 14 2003, 09:51pm Yeah, Wed really needs to do something about that loose nut behind the wheel :). About renting the track for an afternoon, I hear that a mustang group is working on doing the same thing. It might be worthwhile to check into getting in with them if you can't get enough ranger guys to make it feasable.
I did forget to mention my best accomplishment of the evening at the track... I ripped off a .505 light on my first run, too bad the rest of that run wasn't soo good. I guess I just can't have my cake and eat it too.
Jason
Gerry Apr 14 2003, 10:19pm We only need about 5 or 6 guys at $50 a head and we'd have the track for 4 hours. Hell, I'd even go a little higher in the $$ to get a closed track with as many runs as I can do in 4 hours.

Yeah I deffinately need to get out in the country to do some practicing. The t-bars are long gone. They didn't help that much last year really. Besides I wasn't launching or shifting hard enough for traction to be a problem the other night. Heck Jason had more traction/mud problems that I did.
Oh and I got a whole set of sockets, but none of them appear to fit the loose nut behind the wheel. :E

I don't think I've ever seen a socket that big before,,, might be a special order part :E
clancy98 Apr 15 2003, 11:01am eeeeewwwww.... Well Kwik had some pretty big sockets at his place..... Wonder why?

I can see it now.... The official RPS NA Burnout/Launch day out in front of Clancy's place :), count me in!!! Nothing beats practicing out in the country, I got a couple favorite places in Grafton Twp. that seem to work well, and the Sheriff hasn't nabbed me yet!!!!
Jason
Wed Turner Apr 15 2003, 06:44pm SO where is this mysterious place out in the country? I'm ready to go out and lay waste to some rubber. I guess we might have to watch out for the ninjas though.
Jason, I just caught your user text, that cracked me up! :E I've got a set of 15" Splash rims I'm going to give a shot to next. But I don't think the rims were my biggest problem. I'm really starting to think the driver is.
clancy98 Apr 15 2003, 08:56pm well then its settled... Most of this weekend is open for me. Looks like it might rain though. If you guys wanna come out on a dry day, LMK. We can talk trucks in the driveway and BBQ.
