I've read a couple places on how on the newer 93's on up,, but nobody has done it for the 89-92's? have they?

I was looking at the back of my instrument panel and on the tach panel it saya "8 Cyl"???? what is that for?

I'm including pics of what I'm talking about. I want my factory tach to work like it did stock without paying someone to do it.

on the 98's we wired a ground to 8cyl side and it works, not sure about yours.may be someone else knows for sure.if you have a helms book for that year model.in the instraument cluster diag.it should state ground connection for 8 cyl only.but with out diagrams not sure about yours

OK,, all you have to do is Ground the (8 Cyl) pin and it works with the v8 perfectly!!

I got my truck running long enough to test with and without it grounded.

without it grounded its at 2000+ RPMS at idle

with it grounded its at 1200 rpm,, which is right because my truck was cold and the computer didnt settle the idle down yet,, I also had a seperate tach hooked up and it red 1189,, so the factory tach is only like 12 rpm off! woohoo

Hope this helps someone out there!

since the 98+ and the 89-92 can be set with a ground connection.i would imagine the 93-97 are simular.if you find someone with a 93-97 helms evtm or check out the back of cluster to see if its labled like picture.it should be doable
