View Full Version : Hey
Bike Hauler Apr 15 2003, 03:00pm Whats up my name is Chris and just a couple weeks ago I bought a 2000 maroon XLT flareside with a four cylinder fivespeed. I have been out of the minitruck scene for a while (my last being a 85 Isuzu PUP I had for my first car then I went through the wehole import car thing but got tired of spending lots of money to not be fast so I am going back to cruising, the bikes are for speeding). Presently I have the Ranger, a 67 Ford F100 I am modding out, and as the name says I ride (01 Suzuki DRZ400E and 99 Bandit 600 that i have customized a lot). I cant stand stock so I figured I better find a place of knowledge for modifying the Ranger so here I am. Hope to be around a while and be as helpful as possible.
P.S. If you want to see my Bandit go to www.cardomain.com/id/cruzn eventually I will get everything on there but I am slow
GhOsT6_9 Apr 15 2003, 04:24pm Hey welcome to RPS
Check out any of the performance forums for all the engine mods that you need for your engine.
Welcome to RPS Chris. I like the bike, and think it looks a lot better without the fairing. I'm a long time biker myself, and have had something of just about every maker out there. I have an old Sportster right now, but I'm thinking about getting a Buell Lightning XB9S this summer.
Bike Hauler Apr 16 2003, 04:23pm Yeah thats the bike I would get if I was going to buy one it is incredible (even if it si a little underpowered). Next bike will probably be a aircooled eighties gixxer made into a streetfighter/ dragbike. THey can be made to look really cool and with the right mods nothing can touch them.
I had an 83 GSX 750E for a couple years. I put Mikuni smoothbores on it, Yoshimura cams, Jardine headers, and had some head work done. It was a quick bike when it was finished. I never ran it at the track, but I'd guess it would run in the low 10's pretty easy.
The new XB's have 92 horsepower and loads of torque, so they aren't too underpowered anymore. The GSX had 72 hp for a point of reference, and a lot less torque.
Bike Hauler Apr 17 2003, 12:12pm Dont get me wrong they are not "slow", but for 10k they are slow compared to what you can buy for that amount. Far as the Gixxer goes I forgot to put 1100, stroked to closer to 1300 and on nitrous. I am tired of getting outrun like I do on my Bandit and I think I would see the same thing on the Firebolt considering most supersport 600's (R6,ZX-6R,GSXR600,CBR600RR) turn better quarter mile numbers than it does. I want to go retarded and have a 200 horse Busa eater because I am stupid like that.:)
I have a video of a 300 hp turbo Hayabusa, but can't find the site I got it from. I think it was one of superkaos's sites, but you have to register to view the videos. And the thing is 38MB and my website won't handle that size upload. I'd like to have something like that, but I'd get in so much trouble I couldn't buy my way out of it.
The only reason I like the Lightning and Thunderbolts are the handling, with reasonable performance. If you haven't tried one, you should sometime. They are extremely well balanced and are just flat out stress-free to ride. Granted most 600's will leave them eating dust, but I spend a lot more time riding than I do racing.
Bike Hauler Apr 18 2003, 05:22am Yeah it is the Superkaos bike I think your are talking about, a guy on the Suzuki forum I go to posted it on there. That thing pulls harder at 150 than my B6 does at 50.
I would club baby seals to death to get a chance to ride a Firebolt:) , next time the local dealer has a demo say I am definately going (missed the last one because I was at the Atlanta Supercross).
To me the best thing about the Buell is that is has caracter, I would go as far as to say a soul. Kinda like a Ducati, Moto Guzzi, or Harley. I dotn think I will ever own a supersport bike myself because I see them as nothing more than "appliances" for going fast, like a refrigerater you can ride. THat is why I modified the daylights out of my Bandit to make if unique and give it personality.
